It was a combination of turning the "punch bass" waaaaaaay down, nearly off, and playing with the gains on the LOC just a smidge. I have yet to play with the EQ and balance/fade settings on the HU, but I anticipate it will only get better. It's not perfect, but it sounds 100% better than stock and I may not have to replace the whole system. I would recommend anyone with a sense of adventure and some light mechanical skills to try adding a small amp/sub to their Logic7 system before tearing the whole thing apart, much cheaper this way
Thanks again for your help, it was invaluable!

unfortunately for me, it went the opposite in my case - adding sub bass just made me want to improve everything else...

the shop I'm dealing with doesn't know how to do it, they say they need autologic in ny to send them an updated file for my car... and that ny says there's no reason to do what I want to do... I'm going to look into other shops in my area. I decided I need time alignment and more crossover control. waiting on jl xd amps to ship too

Are they running CIP 58? 59 drops Monday.
Technic pretty clearly pointed out that you should contact Andrew in UK. If you get the S/N off of your shop's tool, and call, you can talk with him if you ask nice. I'm trying again with the 2010 E82 1-series after CIP 59 drops on Monday. |

I have a sneaking suspicion they wouldn't have a clue what version they are running...
I also think they don't particularly care if they get it done or not. I spoke with the regional rep initially and he said they knew how to do it at the ny headquarters, so I think I may just be getting the run around. I'm going to look into other shops, just haven't had a chance yet. Also was giving them the benefit of the doubt as I had good luck with this shop a few years back when I had my porsche turbo, but think I'll try elsewhere |

I don't know why shops buy a $11-$13000 software tool when the $700 Bavarian Technic tool will do all the work that they actually do, clear faults and that's it. |

yeah, seems silly. Wish the price was the other way around, I'd just buy one and figure it out myself... my problem is I don't know of any other autologic shops anywhere near me. I'm going to search for the number that was posted for autologic us and see if they can help me.

Thanks Lee. I would like to defend these guys by reminding everyone that most of them are highly skilled technicians not wizards. Their job is servicing, diagnosing and repairing cars not doing wacky conversions unless that is a specific activity of their business. I'll see if i can write an automatic retrofit function after CIP59 is released so that the technician using the autologic doesn't need to understand the manual manipulation of VO and coding it. Infact i would discourage anyone from playing with this functionality unless they absolutly know and understand the implications of what they are doing. I'm loving the cool conversions you guys are doing. I wish i had the time to get more involved myself. Keep up the good work guys. Andrew |

Hi, Andrew, thanks for stopping by. I spoke with you a couple of times over the last 2 weeks, about the 1-series in Portland, OR.
Should be taking another crack at it Wednesday. Owner told me that it's a 2010 MY, but it hasn't had any SW upgrades as far as he knows, so I'm hoping CIP 59 handles it. Thanks for your help, Ken |

I'm the new iDrive swap customer of Motronix that spoke to you in January while the conversion from MOST to HiFi was being done in addition of coding the CIC into my 2008 M3. Hope that your company can find the solution of fully swapping the new iDrive in old iDrive BMWs, including the FSC or something similar. Elías |

awesome, thanks! I can wait it out at this point, the bitone made a tremendous improvement. Alot of the things I didn't like were happening in the LOC's. The flexibility of the crossovers, time alignment and de-eq certainly didn't hurt either. Need to take some time and rta it so I can tweak the eq's, but very pleased with the difference. I still think recoding is going to be an improvement though, but now it's not as pressing. I'll wait until something is written and then get in touch with Heistands again.

Ken, Lee and other rebels,
As of today there is an automatic retrofit for the conversion between TOP HIFI and HIFI on the autologic. Get your autologic user to install CIP59 and BMW711 (or later) and then press the following: CIP - RETROFIT - IPOD and OTHER AUDIO DEVICES - AMPLIFIER OUTPUT and then follow the on-screen instructions. The user will have the option of permanently changing the Vehicle order or not. I have only released this for 1 and 3 series for now. Regards, Andrew |

Advice needed.
Hi all...I've read some of the posts above and it seems like you guys know your stuff so I would like some advice plz. I've got a UK version 320d MSport with a BMW professional HU. The sound is very poor to say the least and the rear shelf speakers are so bad that I have tuned the fader to play only the front speakers. Now I like my sound but I'm not keen on spending too much on my sound system. My previous car was a VW golf with a Kenwood HU and it sounded superb for me with the standard factory speakers; the Kenwood HU improved on the factory one by around 30%. I'm basically trying to get better quality sound, slightly louder with improved depth and base so I would like some recommendations on improvements I could do. I have looked at the BSW upgrades and I'm not sure if these are worth the money especially if I'm looking for the speakers AND the sub package which makes it around $1300. My local audio shop recommended a simple sub/amp combo to sit in the trunk. Is this the best way forward?? Thanks...
