I think it's the OP's car and he can do whatever the f*ck he wants with it!

I appreciate that he likes the 335 style pipes, I bought the 335 simply because of those!!!!!

I'm really shocked by the reactions to this mod. Its like a bunch of babies! Granted that person who put 335 badges on their car should be shot but what is the big deal about adding twin exhausts? As said above its just the same as a M3 spoiler, LCI headlights, M3 wheels.

Over on the Z4 forum a guy added twin exhausts and everyone loved it! No body freaked out saying "O M G its totally like wannabe Z4 M, ya"

Don't forget to tell your insurance company.
They might be more than a little interested that it is a 335 lookalike

That is a good point. It is also worth saying that if this mod costs £500, then for me it would be better spent in the bank, saving up for a 6 pot replacement in due course. £500 will only cover the MPG difference between a 330d and 320d for alot of motorway miles.....if you do 40mpg in a 330d, and 50mpg in a 320d - you'll do 20,000 miles before you save £500. Just a thought.

But he still wouldn't have the 335 style twin pipes, or did you mean 335 instead of 330?

OP, the bottom line is this:

1. It's your car.

2. It's your money.

3. Do what makes you happy and makes most sense for you.

Of course we are all free to do whatever we like with our own cars.

But .. using your example I can't think of any reason to stick twin pipes on other than to make the car look like a z4M.

And why would anyone want to do that?

No, just making a general point that when spending money on a car, its worthing thinking about whether that money would be best saved for a better model - be it a 325, 330, 335, M3, RS4, 911 or skoda - whatever. Its down to individuals like you say, but £500 on an exhaust for a 320d would defo go in my piggy bank towards e.g. a newer car (e.g. facelift) instead in the future. He asked for advice - that's mine.

It will come to the point of looking chavvy, because after a while stock 335 replica exhaust wont cut it for the modders. Then they will have dust bin's hanging off the rear.

My point is maybe the OP just likes the twin-pipe look and doesnt want the added running costs that come with high spec'd car?

I agree, modding to the point of chavviness is a bit rubbish but again, whatever floats your boat right? To each their own.

+1

Then I would agree as i'm a 320d owner who has added a twin pipe. I personally couldn't care what any other owners think... my car, my choice and it makes me feel happier about the way it looks, much like my LCI halo upgrade. If it brings you pleasure by adding the twin pipes then go for it! I honestly would say the same if I owned a 335...

To the OP, I think it looks sweet, fair play. If you drove past me I personally wouldn't know it wasn't a 335, maybe i'm not a hardcore BMW owner!?

I can see the tension from the 335i/d owners on why they dont like 320 owners to make the change. however many of them really brought there 335i/d for the exhaust style i'd say 5%.

I like the style if this type of fit was on a 318d i would do it.

Not having it badged and having the 335 exhaust look will make the car allot more vunerable to thiefs assuming it a genuine 335.

I have found a chap called www.tourqueflow in bham that charges £130 pound and £230 for an additional silencer thats supply and fit.

For me it was either a 318i or a 335i. The 'wheelbarrow handle' style exhaust swung it for me.

i believe the 335 has larger discs than the 325 and 330, guy at work has a 335d and his front discs are bigger than my 325d i think... will check tomorrow.

You might joke, but it would sway it for me.. if insurance wasn't such a prohibiting factor.. i do love only needing to fill my tank every fortnight though, so it's not all bad, haha

Here is a photo of the underneath. I'm half sorry I posted up a photo of the car on the site cos of all the bitching going on

I imported the the 320d msport into Ireland and believe me I wanted a 335d msport but there was a big difference in the price of landing both vehicles. The Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT) for a 320d is 16% of the Open Market Selling Price (OMSP) and for the 335d it is 28%. Also the motor tax for a 320d is €156 and for a 335d is €630. So the difference in importing a similar year 335d was about €9000 at least!!

I didn't like the look of the single exhaust on the 320d (sorry all 320 owners). I didn't think that it suited the car and opted for the 335d look. I think myself it suits the car better.

Oh I have since put on an M3 lip spoiler and got the car remapped so I'm probably wrong in doing that too......?!!!!!!!!!

For me it was always going to be a 6-pot, I was thinking 325 or 330 but dual pipes swung it and I went 335 in the end. Plus, if I hadn't I would have always had that niggle in my mind and whenever a 335 went by I would have been thinking "should have got one of those".

Back OT:

I don't worry about things like people in 320s putting 335 style pipes on. Doesn't affect/bother me on iota.
