I had a 6mth old 3 series with 5000 miles keyed on both sides. The BMW paint shop repair was superb. I'm a perfectionist and I couldnt fault it. The colour match was perfect. The only way I could tell where they had blended was with a paint gauge. No blending was visible to the naked eye.

My guess is that you will be very happy. Their bodyshop standards seem to b e very high.

Sorry to hear of your bad experience

When I picked up my 3 series, there were a few scratches here and there - mostly nothing serious except one that was through the paintwork - couldn't accept that.

I said that if they wanted to make the sale they'd better sort it out. And credit where credit's due, they had the scratches/scuffs repaired to a superb standard. Although it wasn't as serious a job as your car requires, you would never know there had been scratches there before.

I hope you're happy with the job they do on your repair.

And one final thing (I suspect a few would disagree with me here), regardless of whose 'fault' it is, nobody could disagree that you were not treated well in this case and the dealer probably should never have sold that car as BMW Approved.

I think you should collate all of your information on your experience here and pass it onto BMW Head Office:

BMW (GB) Ltd
Ellesfield Avenue
RG12 8TA - Bracknell
Berkshire

Just write it as a polite feedback letter and inform them that you thought they would benefit from knowing how your sales experience went. They might not do much about it but at least you will have let them know of the situation, and if they want to keep you as a future customer they will at least respond to your letter with an apology.

Here's hoping the car will be up to standard when you get it back (I'm sure it will) and that you can just get on and enjoy driving it!

Up-date

Ok guys just got my car back on Monday: mad0260:

First impressions of my car when I went to pick it up, the rear quarter panel was re sprayed paint work matched couldn’t tell a difference.

When I walked closer I noticed they did not replace my window seal, it was still bulging out, I asked the man who give me my car , why had it not been replaced it was charged on the invoice.

The rep said ''it had been changed I saw them do it when they put they put the car back together’’ which got me really pissed off as I knew he was lying to my face.

In fact it was my old seal they had the balls to colour in the old seal were the silver polish residue was with a blue Berol pen or of some sort! Thinking I would be able to tell the difference.
I pointed this out to him and then he did not know what to say, on inspection I also found they broke the whole seal on front and back window with a 3 milliner gap big enough to put my finger through on top of that it has been pissing down with rain ,
At this point I was contemplating punching the guy in the face they made a bigger mess of the car, also they did not re-spray the A pillar and you could still see the old lacquer and paint flaking!

I thought wayside was supposed to be an approved BMW Body shop this is a joke!

I spoke to the manager very firmly and have agreed to take the car in on Tuesday to re do the job and replace all the seals and pay for my excess on getting another courtesy vehicle out.

I am truly disappointed and disgusted in the service , in addition to this wile I was shouting at the manager another customer with a 335i came in and had ago as he was not satisfied with the paint job on his car

Guys if you are considering repairs at wayside body shop be aware! They are a bunch of cow boys!
