I had a similar experience to yours. We have two BMW dealerships here in Minnesota. I went to BMW of Minnetonka, and they said that the squeak is normal behavior. Of course, I could pay much less than $50k+ to experience squeaking brakes when they aren't applied. Anyway, it's been my experience with dealerships that bad dealerships will always be bad. And that the least stressful solution is to just go to another dealership rather than to try to persuade deaf ears.
So, I went to Motorwerks BMW here in Minnesota. The problem was resolved a few hours later. They replaced the rear pads (34-21-6-791-938) and sensors (34-35-6-789-445). The same problem presented to two different dealerships. And completely different responses. Go figure. Kudos to this thread and to OP. Last edited by yuny; 04-23-2010 at 10:19 AM.. |

Thanks
Been about a month and a half (~700 miles, but plenty of stop-and-go) since the repairs and still no squeaking

product under management action. Not the exact translation but pretty much what it means. Basically techs are requesting more info from the engineers in Germany to solve the particular issue.

same problem
-All
I have the SAME EXACT problem. I have taken my car to the dealer (3 different dealers) and the problem still exists. You guys are absolutely right about the fact that the noise comes back in a month or so. They have changed my Rotors, shoes, pads, sensors as far as I know. I really thought I was alone on this, but it looks like there are more people out there with the same problem. This is one of the most ANNOYING problems I have ever faced. I rather have my engine POP and replaced then have to hear the noise EVERYDAY of my life. There are days when the brakes sound like an orchestra in the background. I have to turn on the AC and my music to ignore the sound or else i will go crazy. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if you find a solution, POST it ASAP. Thank you. --Sevak |

Me too,
mine came in after I got some TC Klines put on, the tuner shop said it was the braake, and used a bunch grinder on the pad and it was gone... But sure enough it came back, I feel liek a retard driving this nice car that sounds like a old beat up tricycle when I am going through a neighborhood. I feel like Debo from Friday WTF |

I'm starting to have the same problem. Bought a CPO 07 335i at end of March.... my concern is that I've since put on some aftermarket rims/tires. Would this be reason for the dealership to void my warranty, and possibly blame it on the aftermarket rims?

My dealership says that they cant do anything about it because "BMW says that noise from the brakes is normal"

I hear squeaking here and ther, but for some reason-1 out of 4 sensor always manages to get damaged in process;
i bring the car for other maintenance and other issues, and twice SA told me that brake sensor is replaced cause it was damaged... I don't like idea of replacing sensors or pads or rotors out of my warranty due to improper design of sensor/pad/rotor combo that BMW used =/ |

You could just remove the sensor from the pad and zip tie it to something then just use your cars computer to do the calculations of when your pads need to be changed. The cars computer calculates the. Pad wear and gives you the milage count down to when they are due for a change and its pretty accurate. When my front pads said they had to be changed the cars computer notified me, then about 2-3days later the sensor was tripped and that's when you get the annoying BRAKE light and car on the lift icon showing up.

Just took this in to Bob Smith BMW to get it fixed. Was completed in an hour. Replaced the Rear brake pads and sensors - problem gone. We'll see if the squealing arises again, but from the drive back there were no problems.

Alright guys heres an update with me.....
My squeak/squeal came back after the dealer visit a few months ago and in the past week the squeak has gotten Reallllyyy annoying! So when i came home from work today I decided to pull the sensor out of the pad/caliper and Zip ties it to one of the control arms. After doin that I took it for a spin and after everything heated up the Squeak/squeal was still there!!! So I pick my friend up and he drove with me and listen and said it was coming from the driver's side rear wheel, (sensor was in the pass rear). So we put the sensor back and took off the other wheel to look at the pads and rotor. Nothing out of the ordinary. So its back to the drawing board to find what and where this squeak/squeal is coming from. So the sensor pull was a fail for me and still has the squeal but others have had success with it so idk! lol
