Spend the (lots) extra cash on the "dedicated" electric interface as the car will switch off the rear sensors (not the fronts) and monitor each bulb. It will do this without coding. The only problem (apart from cost) won't apply to you - when you have additional brake lights on some caravans, the car's bulb failure system picks up on this and shows a fault until you disconnect (it's OK for up to 3 brake lights, go to 4, and it alarms - recified if you fit a pair of LED brake lights).

The Westfala detachable is almost invisible until you fit the ball.

Follow this advice, its spot on.
I also use the Thule bike carrier, very secure and simple to fit, worth spending the extra £10 for the lock too.

Towbar

I have a coupe on order - 335i M Sport with the BMW electric folding towbar speccd. Couldn't have a towbar on the M sport plus because of the diffuser

i don't understand what you're saying here? I now have the manually removable westfalia on my E92 320d M-sport. I needed a towbar simply for getting rid of garden cutttings, and also thinking about a light weight but braked trailer for our motor bikes. I like this manually removable one as it must be 10lbs of dead weight on the most extreme point of your car you can remove (ok no towbar is even better). Why pay money to swing dead weight in and out?
Mine is also invisible when removed, electrical connector rotates (manually) back up 90 degrees too so the whole thing is out of sight. No cuttings required in the Msport panel
Now i got this aftermarket, with a story (i did not pay full price, not sure what ex works options are today

towbar

Factory fit towbar OK on M sport

Not on M Sport plus

The plus has a rear diffuser which was the only reason we could think of (dealer and I) why BMW doesn't allow it

I use a trailer for the same purpose as you - garden waste to rubbish tip etc.

Can't say whether it's any good - car on order; due Dec / Jan
