Yay. CA told me that I can expect a delivery date after Christmas. Any word from yours, Jackson?

Spoke to my CA this evening. He said BMW Canada sent him an e-mail advising that the cars on the Undine should reach the rail yard in Concord, Ontario sometime between Dec 18 - 22 and, therefore, it is possible that I could get my car before Christmas.

In any event, he essentially guaranteed that it would be delivered before the end of the year, even if the dealership itself had to arrange for transportation from the rail yard since his dealership MUST meet its December quota (and needs these cars to do so) and also BMW Canada has some sort of quota for its 20th year - 20,000 cars sold - again needing these cars and cars coming in on the next boat also to be delivered before Dec. 31. So the big push is on!

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Ya, I expect to have it before the end of the year for sure. I'd just like to have it before Christmas so I can get the clearbra, etc done as soon as possible. Let's keep our fingers crossed for the 18th in Concord, then 20th-22nd to us!

Hey Picus,

I know it is tough to give a firm answer when the delivery date is still up in the air, it being so close to Christmas and you are getting your own car, but would you be available to do the "dealer prep" on my car once it gets into St. Catharines (Performance BMW)?

Hey Jackson - I am always available, sort of like a cockroach, but a little cleaner.

Your car will be arriving in St Catharines, huh? Interesting. Normally I'd say that's too far, but I will be in Niagara Falls over the holidays for a few days, so I may be able to work something out. As the date gets closer we'll figure something out.

Hey Jackson/Picus...

I believe that next boat is the MAERSK WAVE, and my baby is on it!! It's scheduled to dock in Halifax Dec 14th. I've been reading your exchanges.... I'm hoping for a squeeze delivery to BMW Autohaus by Dec 20-21, wish me luck

I'm also going to be doing TO-Niagara over the holidays, would love to do it in style!

And where did you get the ship tracking photos? Very

Found it...

Ok, I went to sailwx.info and looked up my boat. Problem is that it hasn't submitted an update since Nov 18, so the tracker is useless right now

Willenemniums Willemhousen's (not even gonna try to spell it) site does show that the boat left the UK on Dec 7, and is headed for Halifax for Dec 14.

Pull the friggin' governers already!

Ya, you have to wait until they turn on their Atlantic tracking GPS deal.

I looked on AISLive, but couldn't find em.

Post Just got my VIN..

Hey folks I've enjoyed reading your thread.

I just found out my VIN a few days ago and figured out my E92 was on the Nov 22 UNDINE. My dealer has told me assuming no weather related problems I would get the car during the last week of Dec here in Ottawa. I had heard from him two weeks ago that I may get the car earlier (b4 xmas) but he is not optimistic.

Jackson/Picus when did you guys place your orders? Mine was ordered September 9th, 2006 and I'm getting it end of december. Is this normal?

Ordered mine Sept. 6 - could have got an e92 335i at another dealer for delivery in Oct. but the price was not right and they were not willing to budge.

Ya, it seems like Canadian dealerships have ridiculously small allocations.

On the basis of "eyeballing" the posts on this site, it would appear that BMWNA (BMW USA) has a much bigger allocation than BMW Canada, even taking into account the differences in the size of their respective markets. Therefore, in Canada, you've got to wait a little longer. But doesn't the anticipation make it all the sweeter- nah, that's just the sour grapes talking.

Just spoke to my CA and he says that the train from Halifax will be pulling into Concord TOMORROW!!! Therefore, I could have the car by the end of the week. When BMW puts a push on, they don't mess around.

Anyways, Picus, regarding doing the dealer prep, when I raised this issue with my CA, he suggested I speak to the finance/"upgrade" guy regarding something called "Autobutler". This is susposedly some sort of upgraded detailing, paint sealing, and interior detailing done at PDI and then every 6 months for 3 years. He believed the cost was about $700.00. Any comments especially vs. your service(s).

Damn that is good news.

OK, re: dealer prep programs. There is nothing I can say that won't sound biased based on the fact that I am a detailer, so I suggest asking around. Maybe make a post over on Autopia.org.

My opinion on dealer paint protection is they are a total rip off. You're basically paying ahead of time for "dealership detailing", which can vary from ok to terrible depending on who is performing it. You're getting a wash and a sealant (like Zaino, some 6 months sealant), which is fine every 6 months; but you're paying a premium for it given the experience and expertise of the person performing the actual work. The warranty also prohibits claying or polishing, which is a huge negative. Even if you don't choose me to detail your car I would strongly advise you skip dealer paint protection. No exaggeration, I would say ~25% of the first time customers I serve are as a result of improperly performed dealership washes/detailing.

I just searched over at Autopia for some reference, if you want to check out any of the threads here you go:

Ask yourself this, do you really trust your finance guy to know anything about paint care? Not to mention that the $700 will be more when totaled into your finance plan. I'll be concise: it's a scam imo. The most they will do is scratch up your paint.

That's what I thought but just wanted to get confirmation from the pro.

Anyways, when I mentioned to my CA that I was thinking of having a "third party" do the prep on the car, the reception was less than inviting and that's when he suggested their services.

Picus, I feel that you would likely do a much better job than the dealer just based upon the photos I've seen and the testimonials by very satisfied customers posted on this site. What approach do you suggest using to get you through the door. Also, what should I be telling the dealer to do and, especially not to do, when the car arrives.

Lastly, what is your schedule like - l know you already mentioned that you don't usually travel this far but I am willing to pay for the extra time involved.

I spoke to my CA on Tuesday and he told me once it gets loaded on a truck from Montreal to Ottawa he would tell me. Otherwise he said he wont know anything and wont be able to estimate when the car would be ready for pickup. He still says last week of Dec. Is this ?

If you're dealer is telling you when the train is pulling into Concord, I would assume then that my dealer would also know the same type of info? I'm seeing such incosistency of available information for us Canadians.

Also I thought most of the cars show up to the BMW Distribution Center in Montreal by Train from Halifax and then get sent across QC and ON by truck?

Spoke too soon!!!

CA now saying that car will not arrive in Concord on train until Sat. Dec. 16??? That's a big difference from earlier info that it would arrive on Tues. Dec. 12! Don't know why the story has changed but it has. Anyone else able to speak to their CA's to see if their story has changed and what it is now?
