There seems to be two different problems being described here, are you talking about the miss fire at over 6500rpm or misfires under light throttle?

There are indeed two issues; misfires under load and misfires while idle.

The latest is the issue Marcel is dealing with.

BMW is denying the issue, they say, this is intended behaviour, but as other also stated, this is not how the engine was when it was new....

It looks to my opinion a kind of adaption issue. Altough after they replaced my complete fuel system (HPFP, coils, injectors) and my DME it has been gone now for a couple of weeks, altough not completly as the engine is getting slightly less stable again during idle then just after the DME replacement.

I think this is going to be a HPFP like issue.....

Word is on the street (a very dark and secretive street, I might add) that BMW is going to release a final "we found and fixed the problem(s)" HPFP for the twin-turbo motors in mid-July.

Can you let us know what the part number is for this new HPFP you're having installed?

Thanks,
Rick

Marcel,

i'm on the same boat, but I think it's my original pump that is dying, so they are going to try replacing the HPFP and see if it stops the issue. My car is not throwing any codes, just drives really bad. between 2500 and 4000

Would you check your paperwork and let us know the part number of the fuel pump they installed, please?

Sorry to hear of your problems Marcel, i had several issues with my brand new 335i as well, including steering pump, HPFP, engine issues etc. Sold the car 2 weeks ago - i can't be dealing with these issues on a 12 month old car and the thought of keeping it long term and outside of warranty was not very appealing. The problems on my car were all rectified and it was running fine when i sold it but in the end i just got bored of it and decided to order something else.

Good luck and i hope they get to the root of your problems.

It scares me...I have the Power Kit as well and a failing HPFP four months before the warranty is over.
Warranty for HPFP is 10yrs/120K miles now right?

It's not the "Official" case in Europe. By that I mean, in Germany, if you push them on it, they'll budge. A guy here our of warranty had his pump fail recently. The dealer here were asses at first but he threw a fit and got them to call BMW. In the end they paid for the part and half the labor. Better than having to pay it all...

Too many problems with these cars, the 335i has got to be the most unreliable car in the BMW range

Yeah, I agree - pretty damn sad.

Another angle: what HPFP is installed on the new 335is? If it's the same old same old, then BMW is truly lost. Why would they install a pump they know will fail in their new flagship 3 series?

However, if it's a new (not rebuilt) pump then maybe that's the one I've been told of.

So the 943 pump that is in my car is bound to fail sometime?
