I don't know what this new board/chip will do for my JB3 and my car. If it doesn't add horsepower, then I don't know if i'll really need it. Its already simple enough for me to update my tune versions via the USB cable. The point of a new board would be to allow us to run a better tune or a more powerful version of it and thus have more horsepower, OR make upgrading easier (which it already is, so why bother), OR better integration with the car components for better monitoring and statistics (could this be the one that will allow integration with the iDrive??? and allow us to do everything via the iDrive screen???)

U guys take everything to heart, I have no loyalty to shiv or terry they dont pay for my car or any damages i do it while modding so I only choose the tune I run based on my experience as to which is better and i've run both.

The cost thus far for upgrades from BMS from what i seen and been reading throughtout the 3 years hasnt been much at all and most of it basically optional. I think you are mostly stating the obvious, if we want more features, it would only be normal to pay a bit more for it. Some of us will want it and use it, some wont need it, or want/use it. The price for the JB3 upgrade through the 3 years is NO WHERE NEAR the price that PROcede owners had to ditch out. |

The majority of BMS customers dont need/want the advanced features, but if they ever do its way more inexpensive to upgrade than if you were a proceed customer and wanted to upgrade your proceed. OH and mike did say that this will only be available to EXISTING customers with the N54 platform. So the Gen 3 board will be around for a while. |

i guess my choice of words are too strong... to me when something new comes up the law of cause and effect goes into play-
a) the old gets left behind b) the superior product warrants that the older product is now "inferior" if it makes u guys happy - a) procede rev I people got left behind b) procede rev I is inferior to rev II

oh geez not again.... I've had both, both make the car faster, one has better software and features and one is cheaper, go with what you like, end of story.

BMS, the Meizu of BMW tuning. Let me guess, canbus, autotuning, gauges in the dash? Maybe finally a button on the dash to switch maps?

I don't have either, and have spent months researching... (probably have read every tuning thread on these forums).
Coming from a background of building and tuning turbo cars for the last 17 years or so, personally, I will choose the system that is employed by the most competent tuner. Bells and whistles are cool, but when it comes down to it, horsepower and safety are ensured by the tuner that has the best grasp of forced induction based EFI, experience in the field, and technical competence. For me, from reading everything I can on here and N54tuning, and based on my own personal building/tuning experience, it wasn't that hard to figure out who's really on the ball. |
