I don't even tailgate but my bumper looks similar to your car. I travel quite a bit on the interstate.

Stay far away from trucks on the highway and anyone with ground clearance without mud flaps.
My wife is captain oblivious, she was alone and driving our previous car behind a rig right after the highway was sanded and salted and the noise of pings and pops went in one ear and out the other. The result: a sand blasted bumper, chipped hood and roof, pitted windshield, it was a $3000 repair/repaint bill. |

After talking to the general manager at the dealership, they agreed that the wear was excessive and repainted my bumper for free! I made sure they used black primer this time as that is what was used on the rest of the car and will not be as obvious when new chips form. It's such a relief not having to see those nasty white spots all over the front of my car anymore.

I just bought a e92 335i CPO in immaculate shape. I must have had the most shit luck ever but there were a row of dump trucks/18 wheelers on the highway yesterday. Nonetheless, I washed the car last night and today, I must have at least 75 paint chips on the front bumper, and like 20 on the hood. Now if you go up to the front end, it looks like utter shit.
Anyone go through a respray and have a general idea on pricing? My car is TIAG. |

I've had mixed results with dr colorchip as it did not work well on the bigger chips, they looked like a blob. They look terrible under some light conditions. Keep in mind that mine is sliver, so it's the worst color in terms of chip repair.
Basically, dr colorship sends you a nail polisher; the color matched the original (at least on mine). I remember reading somewhere that what seems to work really good is to use dr colorchip to color the bottom, and then seal it with Langka. I have few more chips that showed up (oddly enough I have some on my roof???). I think I might give the mixed method a try ![]() |
