Just fired mine up for the first time in 7 days....

Long, long, cranks and the usual 3 shadow error codes.

Runs perfectly thereafter.

Next step?

But for my troubles the car's now running V39.2.0.1

It was delivered 18 months ago with V32.1, and this was its first update, so god knows what they've changed in all those revisions.

Sounds like its up the spout again then.

There's been quite a few versions of the pump, they all suffered failures, the latest one part no. ending 933 was only released in July 10 according to the Tone meister.

Video it taking an age to start, then email it to the workshop manager at your dealers.

My dealers changed the pump when shown the video, although the car had just passed all their 'tests' with flying colours and they had said it didn't need a new pump.

Worth a try.

Yes I left it fitted in place, but just switched it to map 0 (i.e. standard).

I made sure the USB lead was tucked up behind the glovebox out of sight too.

If it was going in for anything ECU / engine electronics / turbo / major failure etc then I'd take it off before hand, but the fuel pump was a risk worth taking IMO. They don't have time for looking in ECU compartments if they don't need to or its not on the job spec.

I'd leave it in for services too - if I took it to BMW for services that is.

My car has numerous mods, so if they were suspect of anycar it would be mine, but no problems.

Remember, dealers just want to get PAID by BMW UK for lucrative warranty work - they don't want to refuse you and loose the work unless your mod leaves them no options i.e. they discover your JB3 in place when the car has just blown a turbo at 20,000 miles.
