Now that V5 is out on the streets, How do we use the launch control?
Left foot brake, right foot gas, and go? Do I have to activate the traction control in the user adjustable section of the map first? Do I still need to hold a button?

Interesting, so with DTC on while I am tracking cause sometimes I take the turns to fast,
and when I go WOT create wheelspin out of the turn, will the DTC slow me down before the the procede traction control kicks in ?

if not before, then simultaneously slow you down.

In order to really get the benefit you would want to trun off DTC completely (push the DTC button for a second or two) or at least run on DSC only (push the DTC button once briefly)

shiv, with all that abuse you do to your car, I think your car was built special. As you can see, we try to do what you do to our car, and our cars break easily, well the HPFP for one.

when I press DTC button once it saids DSC limited, DTC activated. So that makes me think that DTC is always on unless you hold the DTC botton for a few second that everything is turned off. I also saw in the new user manual that 20 to 50 % is consider common setting for the traction threshold. I'll go check it out and will report back. I have everything stock except Procede and DCI.

so I tried 20% and 30% traction threshold with DTC all the way turned off. 20% works great, 30% had a bit more wheel spin and sounds great but I suspect it might be slower. with the DSC and DTC turned on (default like when you first start the car) there were all kinds of jitters on both 20% and 30%. I don't know what to make of this and probably unsafe. Maybe BMW TC and Procede wheel spin retard are not working well at these settings.

Same problem here.
With both electronics on, the procede TC didn't worked well. Whatever settings i tried the wheelspin was there and gave me the feeling that the car isn't so safe(because when i have the electronics on i have the extra safe and not be so concentrate on how the car will be react in a danger).

There really isn't much sense in running with all traction control nannies ON. It's just a bit excessive as the Procede and factory system will intervene cumulatively. Nothing unsafe about it. It's just somewhat overkill. You'll get lots of throttle closure as well as big amounts of ignition retard making your engine sound like you have a two-step rev limiter. Sounds cool but not very fun. If you are anything like me, I usually press the DTC button once so that the DME allows some degree of wheelspin before intervening. This works well with the Procede's TC. As does running with the factory system completely off (DTC button pressed and held for a few seconds). Of course, do this at your own discretion and only if you feel comfortable with it.

The manual for my 2008 335xi says that DSC is on by default and pressing the DTC button briefly activates DTC for improved traction in snow etc. It doesn't sound like a "track" mode. Is this a good mode to use normally on dry pavement or at the track?

On an all wheel drive car I would want no intervention... shut it all off.

I saw the same thing. It's said to allow for more wheel spin in the wet, snow, and when using snow chain. It doesn't sound like track mode.

I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on a v5, I was wondering what sort of 60's people are pulling with this setup on a stock car? Anyone have any info?
