very nice watch! I was torn between that and the chrono. I decided to go for the CV2010 Auto Chrono model, simply because of the deal the jeweller tabled on the day. It was literally a case of 'Heres a calculator, show me the figure your willing to pay" We went back and forth two or three times and settled on a good price. So i walked out the jewellers saving ~£700 on a brand new Carrera, which suddenly put it in the affordable bracket.....but given the choice I'd own both, as each has its own benefits.

As I said, it feels well built, takes a good beating as I never take it off, but also looks great whatever you wear. You made a good choice mate, as thats an awesome watch

good watches keep accurate time and don't die when you get them wet. you can get one for $50.

a nice watch is another story.

Not sure what US prices are like on Tags, but after discount I paid about £1500 for the carrera. It's a fuck load of cash, but chances are you'll have it for years to come. As long as you look after a watch, it should last a long long time!

For your price range maybe a Gshock, Nixon. I would save up and get an automatic watch though : Omega, Rolex, IWC, etc

I much prefer wearing my G-Shock everyday than a "pricey" watch. Some of us actually have to work.

And It does much more for me than a $5k B&R or an $80k Patek...maybe I should go ask my parents to buy me a Daytona also.

SVGB400

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9SIA01A0001I41

- it's swiss
- it's an automatic
- it's a chrono
- it's cheap, very close to the $200 dollar limit you specified

and it's pretty good looking imo. Actually, I think I might buy one for myself, just to play around with it.

This.

I have a couple analog Gs and love them.

These threads always completely implode and people suggest spending 10x, 20x the mentioned budget or you are a pussy, etc. Or how people are flabbergasted when it's suggested that you don't need to spend 4 figures to get something of quality. I'm actually surprised we got to page two since this usually happens within the first 3-4 posts.

I've got tons of watches... From cheap beaters to really expensive mechanicals. For the money, IMO G-Shocks are hard to beat. And if you can keep from buying one that is yellow or electric green they really can blend well with any wardrobe. Seiko is another great brand for the money.. especially their mechanicals/autos.

If you do decide to spend more then go for it... watches are a bad investment (just like cars) but they also can provide the same visceral emotions that a cool car can. Just know that if you skimp, or don't get exactly what you want you'll feel bad immediately.
