If you're looking for a more interesting solution, check this link:
http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/speedprod14.htm

Headrest:
http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/speedprod15.htm
The dual headrest solution should take care of any concerns about vibration deflection or accident deflection.

cool. How about rounding the edges and corner so it is not sharp or pointy incase it comes flying at ya (for safety of course since you never know).

Ok, the real question that no one is asking is how much you going to sell this kit for? I know you not spending all this energy just to make one...might as well sell it for those interested. Only issues with mass production is how would it fit all cameras?

Some of the videos I took were done with the videocam mounted between the rear headrest and rear seat. The problem with this is that the camera focuses on the car's interior, and adjusts lighting accordingly. Everything outside the car comes out too bright and out of focus.

The best set up I have seen mounts on the front seat headrest mounts.

Yep. All corners will be rounded..

Just making this one, for myself. It is designed specifically to my camera and car... If I buy a new car, I can replace the rectangular piece. If I buy a new camera I can make a new camera mount plate.. And about me not spending all this energy just to make one.. I am..

All you have to do is manual focus and manual exposure, then it's fine no matter where you mount it. How did I miss this thread?

M5 at shenandoah, cam was upside down mounted from the sunroof glass using a chasecam stickymount (.3x semi-fisheye lens used):
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...05111163&hl=en

330i at vir, cam was mounted right side up using an aluminum bar mount attached to the child safety things on the rear panel (no wide angle):
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...81745619&hl=en

m3 at mid ohio, cam was mounted on rear glass, .3x wide angle used:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...31869669&hl=en

test at local road, same as m5 setup (memory mode which is wider):
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...94568514&hl=en

A quick thought:

You could just make the mount with a standard thread for camera / tripod. Then you could use a standard tripod head to give you maximum adjustability.

Same degrees of freedom apply as in this earlier concept picture -

This can do +/- 25 degrees now though in that axis.

Neoprene Vibration mounts constraining yaw of camera btw..

And RTV under camera and between headrest and mount to dampen vibration.

Tonight I will take some pictures of the entire setup in the car, and post them in the photo forum. As for how much it will cost, I just had this one made, I'm not mass producing these.. Josh
