I believe there is only one O2 Sensor which is after the first cats (don't quote me on that) and there isn't another O2 sencor after the second cats, so you can put a test pipe in for the second set and for the first set, maybe they will come out with a flash program so that it resets the levels that the computer will read, so that you don't throw any CEL's after deleting the cats

Testpipe means cat-deletes (replaced by testpipes), and is thus turboback. But what do people mean by "turboback"? Am I correct by assuming that whatever system that replaces the original from turbo? To me a sensible turboback is one that has some cats so that it sniffs clean in testing. That means that it has free-flowing cats as far as possible from turbo so that the cats would not restrict the flow. When the cats are further back they need to get warmed before the test, but that's not an too laborious when compared to the need of changing the exhausts back and forth. |

[QUOTE][But what do people mean by "turboback"?/QUOTE]
A lot of people, including myself, think a turboback is the replacement of the whole exhaust line from the exhaust manifold(s). radgator1-I don't remember what the guy told me to be honest, but I know the mufflers will be stainless steel. I don't really care what the exhaust line is actually made of since it's under the car anyways. I've had stainless steel and titanium catbacks on my previous cars before. While the weight difference is noticeable, that's about it IMO. |

![]() Standard baseline is 290 WHP. If/when the weather clears up, I am going to dyno it. I know it is very unscientific, but if the dyno gives a really higher number, say like 300, then it is probable that the inexpensive "Camaro" exhaust works well. My 335 has been baselined, then PROceded. If I do the Magnaflow exhaust as some suggested, then we will have some new real numbers. Last edited by WilyB; 03-16-2007 at 05:31 PM.. |

Just to clear up something...
Exhaust is generally broken down into 3 parts, first you have the Downpipe which bolts to the Turbo(or o2 housing). Then you have the Cat(or Testpipe) followed by the Catback. |

Sick of all you SoCal people
Look at you all
--With your pothole free expressways --With your hundreds of cheap and somewhat trust worthy tuners --With your proceeds --With your nice weather --With your 19s --With your big driveways and garages. NYC owns you. But... not our BQE (Brooklyn Queens Expressway) not our tuners ( or lack there of ) not our roads ( or lack there of ) I'm thinking of taking a trip out there just to have my car tuned. 350/750 for exhausts, that freaking cheap man. I got a quote at 1500$ and up. I don't care anyway. I think I'm getting tired of this coupe anyway, I test drove an X5 3.0si today and I was very very impressed. Its either that or a 535xi. You know why? NYC can't accomidate a 335i owner and his busy schedule. I'm sick of this car's constant need to see the doctor. A bent wheel here, an oil change there. This car is more maintenance heavy than a Puerto Rican/Columbian woman ( or JLo for those of you who wouldn't have an idea ). Eh... but than again... this is NYC. but than again... it is a 335i... f em both. I'm moving to Fiji

Hey guys, just got my 335 and now its tuning time. Im 100% going custom on my car.
One question, the stock exhaust is connected at the mufflers, do you think its necessary to do that on a custom....why did BMW do that? To equalize the pressure in the 2 pipes? I wouldn't plan on doing that, but it also wouldn't be hard. w/ a n x-pipe. Here are a few pics of the Magnaflow I was using on my Volvo S60R boosting 23psi. Fun car! Nothing like a 325awhp Volvo as a sleeper. And no....that isnt me! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I'm having Royal Muffler in chatsworth make me a custom exhaust from the downpipes back. They gave me a fair price for all t-304 stainless, 2 resonators, an x-pipe, and they will be using my Autospeed Mufflers from my Audi S4 (4.2 V-8). It sounded really good and deep but not too loud on my S4 so im hoping that it sound good on this car but we will see...

SoCall335i - That's funny man , I was just there talking to Jimmy on thursday about building a custom cat-back exhaust . I was just wondering to just have a 2.5 inch starting from second cats or the first cats and ending with stainless steel Magnaflows. My whole thing is not to have a much louder exhaust than stock , but to have the most HP'er gain .

Custom cat back. I dont have it on my car. But I do have test pipes installed. (2ndary cats / resonator delete with 2.5" all the way back to stock muffler /w H pipe ) Like charlie said you get a power inc. But I didnt get anything noticable until I changed my maps on the procede. I did a few test runs with a few friends. Some on the board. I use to be dead even with my friends bolt on evo until 110 mph. But now I pull at 80 mph. Charlie can even attest to the power gain on my car also. But ill most likey get rid of the piping once someone comes out with an e90 exhaust.
