I tried this this morning on my 335i. Unplugged the cable from the Sirius receiver under the cover in the driver's side trunk. Plugged it in after the red light went out. Still no presets..........

Hmm... Well it wasn't the first thing I tried. I also tried the spare key and the iDrive soft reboot (vol/mute knob + both eject buttons) prior to trying this so maybe give that a shot and try again.

I did a soft re-boot, did not use the spare key, unplugged the unit, waited for the red light to go out, counted to 10 (thousand one...), realized I have a stopwatch on my watch, started it and waited an additional 10 seconds, plugged everything back in. Voila! Presets have been working like a charm all day!

What a great forum!

Bad thing is I'm still thinking about a 335is...

I'm having the same problem with storing my favorite channels on my X5.

I was at my dealer today, and saw a Dealer Communication System Message regarding this issue. BMW has acknowledged the problem but does not have a fix yet.

They said the affected vehicles are all BMW models produced before 09/2009 with option 655 (Sirius Satellite Radio). Dealerships have been instructed not to replace any parts or perform a repair attempt.

The issue is caused by Sirius/XM in combination with the SDARS-Exbox (SDARS receiver from Visteon). The SDARS-Exbox is the stand-alone satellite radio receiver (not integrated into the head unit).

Once again, BMW does not yet have a solution.

I got the same answer, though was told they will probably have a fix with the next version of code. When that will be was unknown but that was my SA's guess.

Do it... got to ride in a co-worker's 2011 335is the other day and I had a s**t-eating grin on my face the whole time.

Out of curiosity, have you tried the steps in my fix? I have no idea where the SDARS box is on the X5 but I bet realoem.com does.

So I got it... though no guarantee next time I start the car it will stay. I did text it by turning off and on, we're good.

1) Run car for 3 minutes with satellite on. Bluetooth OFF on the phone.
2) Let car sit with drivers door open for 3+ minutes.
3) Do a soft reset with the car OFF. Power + Both eject buttons.
4) Start car and it should work. It was in my "old" presets so I had to reset, but we're good there.

Hope that works for everyone.

No, I didn't try it. My SA suggested I wait for the BMW fix.
