Should be good since I pulled the trigger on the Haynes book right after finishing my post lol.
$33 brand new shipped from UK is the better deal I found.

Hi there,
The main purpose why i've started that topic was only to get opinions to know if my car would have issues while going for a tune before the swap. The answer is no. If you want updates on the actual swap, I would recommend you read the Manifold swap technical thread at this adress http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=37444&page=33 Have a nice one!

I ran into an induction/ignition issue. Have to handle this before going to the drag strip or else its hopeless lol.
Im happy with the mod, but the issue have to be handled before I can give a full review.

I was supposed to scan my car for codes and check plugs today, but its damn too nice outside: im having a pina colada both feets diping in the pool for now and I got friends coming over so probably not a good idea to mess with the car under those conditions lol.
I got a performance intake on the way to get rid of the heatsoak; it sure gonna help.

Received half of the intake. (there was two boxes) But the second one has arrived today.
Should have done the intake swap + the plugs done before the weekend.

I'm getting the AA tune put on my car today after work. I have a 325 with the 3-stage IM on it since January running just fine, so I'll report back if I notice any issues with the tune.

Got the AA tune installed tonight at Autotalent in Carson, CA. The guys at Autotalent were great, and I'd definitely recommend their shop to anyone in the LA area looking to get work done.
Now on to the tune... First of all, it really doesn't feel that much different than before. I already had the 3-stage intake installed, and the car has been running great with it since January. With the AA tune, it's maybe a little smoother in midrange acceleration, but I was expecting more with this setup. Throttle remap isn't that aggressive either. I have the steptronic, and the pbx throttle remap felt really good, but AA is closer to stock. And it's pinging. There is a bit of detonation on each upshift, and also on throttle tip-in. It even pings when I start the car, which isn't right, so I'm going to call tomorrow. I don't think I got the right tune, or maybe something didn't burn right, I don't know. hopefully, they can fix it though. Autotalent said that AA is really good about making sure the tunes are right. I'm pretty sure something is off, so I hope they can figure it out. |

Can you explain that part a little more? I felt exactly like you did, but on reverse (I did the tune then the swap) My Performance intake really smoothen things out as per acceleration at WOT. With new plugs, it should really run like butter!

It was in Bypass mode for the entire operation (download and flash). Quote:
Well, when I started the car this morning, the pinging seemed to be gone. Drove all the way to work, and didn't hear the pinging I heard yesterday.. Maybe the cooler morning air had something to do with it, and maybe the computer is learning the new settings, so we'll see what happens this afternoon. Otherwise, car seems to drive fine.. still not seeing much of a power increase, but my butt probably isn't the best dyno. PM'd someone from AA last night, and may call them if I have time today, just to make sure the correct tune is on the car. I've seen E90Pilot's dynos, and I don't think my car is making anywhere near the power his is. Quote:
But it didn't do it this morning, or at least it was much, much less than yesterday.. Last edited by mike-y; 08-24-2011 at 11:12 AM.. |

Dont waste your time waiting, call right now; they're amazing at service, but really not that much concerning online support. (Nobody's perfect!) They rarely answer to emails.
I didnt experience anything like you did maybe because my battery was unplugged during the whole reflash process; so adaptations were automatically reset when I slammed the ECU in. AA says that the tune needs to break in (+/- 500miles); so maybe it explains everything.
