The small little dinky foglights we have on our cars are for show, not for actually increasing light on the road. An thiose light the road to near the car to be of any use. I´m thinking about this solution that I´ve seen here in Sweden.. Aux lights behind the grill. Or maybe some Rayzer widebeams.

Have to say, this actually looks pretty sweet of a setup from a functional point of view. I'd do it because I work under the hood a lot!
The whole car uses a 12V system so I would say that a transformer is not required. I would also add a switch too so you can turn it on when you need it and off when you don't, otherwise a glowing engine bay might look a bit ricey. I like LED's on a car but not when it's driving. So I think this would be fine. Imagine if you had the courtesy lights on while driving...it's a BMW not a Christmas tree! |

Bro, the LEDs are fine. It's something different and the blue lighting goes well with the exterior paint. If I knew how and it wasn't a lease I'd probably do it too cuz it's functional in a sort of way. Except I would try the BMW orange lighting like in the interior.
