My E92 M3 has an infuriating wind noise problem that starts just above 70mph. It is not the sunroof (it does not have one) nor the windows.

It comes from the lower/outer corners of the windshield and sounds like leaves, or paper (harness labels?) fluttering in turbulence somewhere.

I have looked under the hood, in the corners where the drain holes are, and nothing obvious is causing it. I have stuck down the rubber sealing trim on the leading edge of the door, where it folds inside, but no difference.

I am beginning to think there is something lodged?flapping inside the air vent system.

Remove the AC microfilter from under the hood, look for leaves in there.

So why did I not do this earlier...?





After I cleaned these out - not really a huge amount, but I guess it only takes one in the right place to make the noise - I went out for a drive.

I think the noise is cured.....
