Etown and Atco are very fast tracks, makes sense that SRT8's are running high 12's there. As CEA said, and we go the track frequently in socal, SRT-8's, trap 102-107 and run in the 13's, sometimes 14's. Regardless for how heavy they are they can move, and supercharged they are very fast.

It may pull slightly ahead, but with a tuned 335i with procede and exhaust you'll give it a hell of a race @ ~400HP. Ford really builds sloppy engines.

The Shelby GT500 won't beat a new Z06 corvette stock.
Agree.

Performance wise, the Shelby 500 has been a real disappointment: 12.8 @ 113.2 (R&T, Jan'07 issue) The thing is a PIG at 3,950 lbs, and by the way it isn't faster than a stock C5 Z06 Vette, which is a low-mid 12 car at 115/116mph. However, the Shelby's potential is HUGE, and $2k worth of simple mods will take it to 650hp and into the 11's or even high 10's with DRs.

When we were at Famosa, a guy in a Charger SRT8 told me his car was "made for the track." He told me he should run in the 12's. I think he was a little disappointed with his results. He ran a 14.62 @101.21mph, and ran a slower E.T than the Honda CRX in the process! By the way, my M3 was running 13.554 @ 104.14mph on that same track, same day, and the SRT-8 would have been smoked by me.

You went all the way from LA to Sacramento to drag race your 335I?

Was it stock or modded?

Are you sure it wasn't an R/T with the SRT-8 hood and wheels?

Some tracks are just much slower than others. The other week we were up at LACR, and the 500HP CLS 63, and SL55 AMGs (Which are significantly faster than a SRT8, were only running Mid 13's at 106-107mph. A SRT8 Charger would have to have well over 500hp to run 116mph+ in the 1/4 mile, that car was stock, with maybe a 100 shot of nitrous??

They are beasts, I would love to get a 300C SRT-8 on the road just to see what they feel like. But they eat more gas than an M5, so you get more pefrormance and twice the gas mileage as he does. I LUV power, but SRT-8, I could not in good conscious rip the environment to shreds like that. Its probably why even in a year when I think I will be able to easily afford an M5, I won't get it. I will stick to a fun two coupe like a M6 or new M3 as a limited mileage fun car (no reason to buy a four door car as your weekend/fun car) and my every day car will be a Hybrid Camary. I know guys, please don't me, I just can't make a gas guzzler my everyday car.

Hell... If I could I would drive an M6 and a Hybrid Camry and a Minivan then. No flaming here. Problem is an M6 costs $100K. The SRT-8 is less than half that... although no where near the performance. Both guzzle gas like nobody's business.

i know this is completely off-topic from what this thread has turned into but i just raced an srt8 about an hour ago. unfortunately, my car was stock as i had just gotten my car back from the dealer for a service and didn't have my jb+ in !!! there was a wrx in the mix but he wasnt really in the same league. so we raced from 60 to about 110: 1st race - pulled half a cl on him. 2nd race - tied door to door. 3rd race - even until about 100 then he pulled away by about 1/4 of a cl. i just wish i had my jb+ in! the tie and loss were very unimpressive.
