Well its not that bad. Actually its still bad. When you have a dark rim you inevitibly clean it less often than you would normally. When you do go try to clean the rim the brake dust has really caked on and in some cases damages the finish on the wheel...pits and etching occur.

Dark wheels need just as much love, i found out the hard way. 2 days at the track - didn't bother to clean the wheels...woops. You couldn't see it, but they were rough to the tough when washing, in spots.

Black wheels look great on the right cars and I think there are a few examples of E9* on here that work well.

What about this :- Do you like black wheels on this

To each his own. What I don't understand is why people think the BMW 3er is so "classy" they can't mod it. The Germans see it as a low end car. Everytime I see a real high end sports car they pull away from as if kicking rocks at my little 335I.

In my opinion, the only black rims with polished lip that look good are iForged.

I somewhat agree. The black rims get lost in all the black that's already in that area. If you're going to spend as much as $8000 on a special set of rims you should show it off as much as possible.

I have seen a few examples that look great. Also, keep in mind that it is very difficult to phtograph a black rim properly and many time these rims look much better in person than in not-so-good photographs.

What do you think?
you have an auto and call them "rims".

that explains everything.\

my 49 year old mom has the same opinion of black wheels if that makes you feel any better.

I think that black wheels (gloss or matte) with a polished lip (on 2pc or 3pc forged wheels, not crap replicas) looks good on certain colors.

simple answer to the question, because it's their car and they can do whatever the hell they want with it regardless of what others like or dislike or how stupid we may think it looks. [/thread closed]

I love polished/high gloss black rims...ESP. on a WHITE car....keeping a car 2 colors ...black and white , black and red ...etc. adds CONTRAST and doesn't make the color scheme overly busy.
I had black rims on my last car...and with all black and white external parts it kept the car looking CLEAN.
Black rims aren't that hard to keep clean either...your going to have to scrub ANY rim no matter what so...
That being said..
Chrome TO ME is overly BLING.
The stock color just doesn't "pop".
Match painted is ... a reason to burn my eyes and frontal lobe out with a heated wire hanger.

We wont go into gold rims ...cough*

As for...NASCAR .... I am one of the 5 people in Cali that watch it EVERY week. Call it my love for the semi blue collar roots thew sport had....rather than the well bred past of formula,Indie etc.
Then again...I will watch ANY car go round and round ....but are Indie cars REAL cars? I mean..when you look at them they just look like LOW flying aircraft with poorly designed landing gear
