I'm looking into this myself but I've noticed that I have FRM1 module which obviously isn't enough for this kind of modification... Could someone please tell me if upgrading to FRM2 will be enough? I know, FRM3 would be the best choice, but it's harder to get used one...

FRM2 would be fine (FRM3 optimum as you stated) I have LED tails on my 09' E92 with FRM2.
You will have to code (or know someone that can do for you) out the rear Cold/Warm Bulb checks and the Error Reporting. After that, all is fine, no flickering or hyperflash...

A DCAN cable is on it's way from England and I've already checked all manuals and videos of doing the coding, so I was thinking of doing it myself since each step is explained to the details.
Thanks for the info! I'll post some pics when I get it done. |

sorry for the bump, E90Sexion, can you confirm that you set brake force display (BFD) to nicht_activ also?
Thanks for the post btw, will update if I have success with coding the LCI retrofit |

I can confirm that I've successfully managed to get LCI taillights working on my 2006 e90 without FRM upgrade.
I wanted to disable bulb checking with the ncs codes provided in #1 post but my FRM module didn't have the exact values, so I had to disable each bulb individually: KALTUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_H_L nicht_aktiv KALTUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_H_R nicht_aktiv KALTUEBERW_RL_BL_2_L nicht_aktiv KALTUEBERW_RL_BL_2_R nicht_aktiv WARMUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_H_L nicht_aktiv WARMUEBERWACHUNG_BLK_H_R nicht_aktiv WARMUEBERW_RL_BL_2_L nicht_aktiv WARMUEBERW_RL_BL_2_R nicht_aktiv This is it, fixes bulb checking (flashing) on the car startup and normalizes blinker speed... (tested on FRM1 2006 build) Last edited by mrajkovic; 09-22-2013 at 01:30 PM.. |

I had to add a little more on my FRM E92 late 2006 build to get everything code free

I have one weird thing going on. I have a right turn signal malfunction message but everything seems to be fine with the lights. They are all blinking at the right speed. I double checked all the code and all the L & R's I have posted above match. Anyone seen this before?

Maybe this is common sense but I screwed it up. So just in case you seem to have your right tail working perfectly but your left reverse light does not work then you need to mirror this pic for the connector on the left side everything is opposite.

mrajkovic, can you please confirm that your tails are still working? My worry is if the FRM1 does not provide adequate voltage/current to the tail lights, it may either harm the lights or the FRM itself. Did you experience any failures over time?
Also, tips from makkan00 and NiVeDh made the trunk light rewiring a piece of cake. Thank you!!! I only have to do coding now but just waiting on confirmation on long-term use and effects of using FRM1 with LCI tails. Can anyone provide insight on the matter? Quote:

Wiring for my 12-2007 build E90 M3 was different.
I tried to re-wire as shown earlier in this thread and that didn't work right for me, the wrong lights were lighting up. (rear fog instead of reverse, reverse instead of park). So the wiring must not be the same for all cars. Busted out my tester, and this is what made everything work correctly for me: Coding after that was easy and error free.
