I see. But only reporting 50whp more (according to some posts in this thread)? I'd think that would create more heat issues that bigger housings as well. Probably wrong there. But looks like $3500 bucks for the RB upgrade?

You get more than 50whp with RB's without a question in the world man. Alot of people that have really high dyno numbers on stock turbos+FBO is because they are probably running race gas/methanol/ or E85 mix or all of them lol. Not just regular 93 pump. If your going to try and set a record for 1/4 mile which I personally dont like 1/4 mile runs just because how hard it is on the car ect.. then your going to be running race gas and be FBO (hopefully).
Why havent you installed your DP's on your car yet if they are just laying around the house? RB's basically have bigger and brand new insides with the stock turbos housings. Its like walking into a house that looks sort of nice (not really nice, more like a one two bedroom apartment) but everything inside is state of the art and LED tv's on the wall with granite counter tops ect lol) haha hope that gives you an idea of what RB's are LMAO

Thanks for the info. I see know by the pics on the RB site. I had read the txt but it sounded like there were just more at out parts. Makes sense now though. Haven't installed any of my parts because I'm taking it in to have everything looked over first, warranty. I've only owned the car for about 2 weeks, have a garage full of parts and some packages still on the way already!! Haha. Went yesterday and got a baseline dyno so soon ill install everything. |

Another thread posted today with mid 400 numbers. Just seems like a lot of money for 60sh hp? Ya I understand that they won't peak as much as stock and will hold the power band but... I dunno. Not sold yet.

Your assumption is correct, there's no incessant need to build a motor to run larger twins; especially when the single kit is doing so well thus far. Lots of misinformation on this forum.

He needs to work on his tune before he starts working on records. 380whp with an E85 mix on a dynojet sucks. I'd expect that from a mustang dyno as most of the E85-mix cars on this forum are hitting 420-430whp.

Pistons are available from CP, conrods and rod bearings from Carrillo, both companies belonging to the Austrian manufacturer Pankl Racing. Whether you need to rebuild the engine depends on your driving profile. If you use the power only sporadically, i.e. some 1/4 mile races and a few track days on a circuit, then you don't need upgraded internals. However, if you're going to be racing the car with FBO, an aggressive tune and even bigger turbos systematically, I would rebuild the engine. I'm aware of an Alpina B3S Biturbo in Germany that needed a rebuilt engine after less than 30K (km) as it was used to 90% on racetracks or pushed to the limit on the Autobahn (i.e. driving regularly at 300 km/h); it was discovered that the rod bearings started to fail. But this is certainly a very extreme case that is not likely to be replicated, in particular in a country with severe speed limits. Alpina_B3_Lux

One failed B3S is too little statistic to base assumptions on, but if it was 400 whp it is a bit worrying, especially for high powered Single Turbos. |
