I saw a reference to "80k Mile Emmissions warranty". Does this mean that codes related to the O2 sensors should be covered by warranty?

Doesn't look like it, only 24k. 80k covers ECU and cats. See http://www.epa.gov/obd/pubs/420f09048.pdf. Where did you see your reference?

If I came across this post a week ago...

I bought N54 LSU 4.9 sensor and I tried to install on N55 platform... big mistake and waste of money for parts and labors. The car idle went rough/ cutting on soft acceleration.

The N55 upstream o2 sensor (LSU ADV) operates with LT4 ADV control unit which is quite different than N54 (LSU 4.9) LSU-IC unit and yes (one more time)... WE CANNOT CUT OFF THE PLUGS even on N54 N55 platforms and use the same sensors.
