We wont know until they are officially released, but i suspect you run each app separately as with Pandora, Mog, etc rather than being launched from within BMWs own app. For it to work the app needs to be active. Each of the 4 apps listed will need a update, so download them now, and then look for updates in the next couple of weeks. Normally within the release notes the app will say if they added support for a car manufacturer.

No, nothing has to happen on the car side. The iPhone app is what gets updated.

You can upgrade your 09 to support Apps. It just it won't be a "simple software update" though.

It would require at a minimum Combox which is the ECU that handles the Apps platform. If you have BMW Assist you would loose this, as BMW Assist accounts cannot be transferred over by 3rd parties. Only BMW can do this.

You also might need to upgrade your CCC to CIC and your CID (Display) .. and controller depending on what equipment you currently have. Its all doable and really rather simple. Some coding is required after the new hardware is installed.

This can't be done by dealers, you would need to take it to someone or do it yourself. There are plenty of vendors out there that offer this and there are a plenty of people that have done it (including me on a x5 ... a simple google search will be fruitful.

Install an IPad Mini and tether to your jailbroken iPhone

As of today not a single one of these apps is working yet. Any news or ideas when they might go live? It's been nearly 2 months since the PR.

Audible was updated today and works.

Still no sign of BMW compatible versions of the other 3.
