I don't run one on my 335 xi but have never had a problem with my other vehicles evo 8 (6 year old pump) and gmc syclone (10 year old pump) on walbro 255 lph . Many evo's run walbro double pumpers with e85 and have no issues.

I have a box of a couple dozen dead Evo/DSM 255lph pumps sitting at the shop. The shop Evo has used up 2 in the past 2 years alone.
I guess it depends on your mileage and use, jump on the Evo or STi forums and you'll find 15 page long threads of guys complaining about Walbro's spotty reliability. |

regulator hoses fo walbro
Hi Rob, does this make sense:
so i took the regulator plastic, figured its good to 72 psi from a 72 psi regulator and heated the ends to fit over the couplings and fittings. so good so far. |

the only issue i found is the fuel tank wont go below 1/4....i think the the big hose is blocking the floater. i dont mind. ran up to 60% e85 on e30 map COBB.....beasty. |

I had the same problem and ended up replacing the level ($100) which fixed it. I think I damaged it during install.

Fuel calculation had been off since I reinstalled, gauge says 180, then it 100 then 50. I tookit out again to reroute house away from float problem persisted and car stopped running again... something must have popped off...starting to piss me off.

That's pretty funny. No, it doesn't take a ton of time to physically lift a transmission into place and bolt it up, but the total time required to do a quality E90 transmission swap isn't anywhere near 30 minutes. Lots of little details that take time.

I took the hoses from the regulator on the driver side....I actually took your advice on n54tech to replace the regulator I replacing the fuel pump. I can expand on the process if needed. I just cut up the plastic to fit and heated to fit over the fittings, once they cooled hey would not move, but I added the clamps anyway. I definitely recommend as the rubber poped off on my pump too. |

While I was working for a company that did hundreds of Walbro intank installs...255's were always a problem. We had low pressure quality issues with nearly 1 out of every 5 fuel pumps. We ended up switching to Deutchwerks turbine pumps, they have proven to be much more reliable. And the quality control is much better. We went from replacing one a week to maybe one every few months. Stay away from Walbro pumps, they are garbage compared to the rest of the stuff available today.
There is a reason why they are so cheap...
