Hah, I actually had a similar reason! The NLCS was yesterday night; the Rockies are going to the World Series! WOO HOO!!!

(Actually, I downloaded and installed the game, when my PSU decided to kick the bucket. I might have jinxed myself with that 6 year old computer comment earlier. Hopefully it's just the PSU, and nothing else. Wasn't really intending on dropping $2k on a new computer at the moment....)

That sums up why I am done with this....I just don't get it....................I guess this is the same type to find exploits and cheats in online FPS and can brag about killing people when they didn't expect it. Have fun boys............

Just a minor update, but it turns out it wasn't the PSU that died. My motherboard actually was the thing that decided to spit its ghost. Never had a m/b go on me before, but I guess there's a first for everything.

Just ordered a bunch of parts from Newegg, which won't get here until next Tuesday or Wednesday, so won't be able to catch up with you guys this weekend, but maybe the following weekend if all goes well. (You are still hosting each Sunday night, right Steve?)

Upgrading to a Cord 2 Quad Q6600 and ATi HD2600 Pro 512MB GDDR2. Should be a nice bump up from the old Athlon XP-M!

That's the chipset I have in my video card...it's awsome!

Hey, glad to hear it works well. I was actually going to get a nVidia GeForce 8800GTS 320MB, but I don't do enough PC gaming anymore to justify paying triple the cost of the ATi card. Maybe when I finally do a complete rebuild I'll opt for a nVidia SLI or ATi Crossfire config, but I'm sure this will suffice for the time being.

I'm pleasantly surprised that I was able to overhaul my rig with a quad core CPU and decent video card for under $500 though. The Q6600, at about $280, is by far the best deal out there in terms of price/performance.

You got MB, CPU, GPU all for around $500!

did you get new memory and PSU as well?
The reason I ask is because when I upgraded from my Athlon system, I had to buy a new PSU because I didn't have the right connectors and the memory was different which was pricey.

Monday nights are a definite...any other night that I don't have any other obligations, I'll set up the dedicated server. I've been told that connection speed is good and my game settings don't allow ABS, TC, DSC to make it as fair a race as possible. You can use the auto gearbox if you want. I will also be instituting minimum times to qualify for the race to make it competitive and to keep the riff raff out. I think times for the GP will be 2:30 and under and for the Sprint 1:50 and under. These times are very doable. If anyone has any problems with those times, let me know and we'll work it out.

BTW, I got the "official" e-mail regarding the M3 Challenge race series...anyone else get it?
