Any decent mechanic can fit them, you don't need to go to BMW specialist. My downpipes/anti-roll bars/ rear subframe bushes/water pump/fuel pump were fitted by the same guys that use to do work on my Nissan 350z. The garage is actually suppose to be a Citron/Renault specialist but the main mechanic is fab he works on anything, it's not unusual to find a Clio on one ramp with a 911 next to it
Hopefully in the next few weeks he'll be fitting a nice new uprated oil cooler, but best of all the garage is only a couple of miles away and because I've used them for so long now they are happy to do things like drop the car off at work for me, give me a one of their own cars for me to run around in if needed, and they always manage to fit me in even at short notice (like when my water pump broke) ...much easier than driving around the country to get things fitted. Still DW are very good and cheap, they fitted my springs/dampers when I was in the area for a meeting, but you have to book very far in advance. Equally Birds were very good when fitted my LSD. As long as its someone half decent doing the work I don't mind paying more for labour.....unless its a BMW main dealer ofcourse, £140/hr+vat for some one with no idea what they are doing to have a poke around the car, not thanks. Had yours fitted yet Yoro?
Mine have just arrived in the country according to the tracking. I can't wait. If gangzoom is right then i'll get the guy who transferred a 540i v8 into my e30 to do it. Hates doing work for me, tied up his garage for a week with that one but he does love a challenge. |

Just incase anybody is worried about the exhaust emissions after removing the front cats, don't be. Had my MOT on Saturday and all is well.
Nice warm engine and not an eyelid was batted. WM |

you are the star. many people who questioned this for many many times and shame on those who never contributed to a clean answer for others when they had it done. many thanks once again. |

No problem guys.
But just to be clear. The removal of emissions control equipment is a fail, IF spotted by the tester. The chances of him spotting the missing DP cats are almost zero though. I have never had such a thourough mot. He checked everything. But never questioned the noise or emissions. It just goes to show that the front cats are not actually required and were put in by BMW just to bring the power down (in my opinion) (maybe bring the emissions down during cold start..? ) Another plus point - the DP's are now well run in and sound even better. A great mod and a must for anyone with a 335i. Did I mention im still under bmw warranty. ..? ;-) WM |

There's no such thing as an RHD option Mark. The AR ones definitely fit well and despite a few issues, it seems VRSF ones will with a small amount of work. I've heard BMS ones definitely don't fit due to the position of the o2 sensor bungs.

DW quote £200-£250. Thats 2 guys for 3-4 hours.
The vrsf ones are now universal fit. So unless you buy used you should be fine. Mine were used but from a trusted member on here. So a straight fit. There is a definate increase in power. I would say anything up to 25bhp. But that's only part of the story. The real benefit is how it gets up through the rev range. It spins up so much quicker. Just to mention the noise... There is no drone at all. The only increased noise is during slow pulls and on overrun. WM |

WM. Did you or do you have and aftermarket FMIC? I was thinking of hijacking the fuel gauge and checking the IAT's after downpipe installation but someone mentioned that after only a few pulls the temps will definitely shoot right up.

I can't see how changing the Dp's will result in higher intake temps. I have never struggled with intake temps. I do want an upgraded intercooler to increase flow and stabilize the temps though. I do notice that after a few pulls the oil temps shoot up but never nowhere dangerous. WM |

My advice to the OP would be to set a weekend aside for it. If I was doing it again I'd look into a way of supporting the engine from above as the driver side engine mount makes things difficult. |

Mine have just arrived. Woohoooooooo.
Now i've just got to decide on where to go for fitament. Really don't want to end up with knocking/rattling. DW is leading the charge from what i'm reading here. but is going to be approaching a 1er in petrol for the round trip. Unless anyone can definitely vouch for the others which were also mentioned... Yoro, mine came to exactly the same as yours as I had import tax too. |

If your in the east midlands region go for 'All fours garage' in Leicester. I can guarantee Andy(main mechanic) will sort it out, and for a good price ....As I've said before his fitted rear M3 subframe bushes to the car which even Birds in London told me is a hard job without issues.
