Gonna stop by a shop monday and see if they are capable. This is supposed to be the best shop here in Cambodia but that really ain't saying much. I can't wait to be back stateside. Anyways i will see what they can do. I'd do it myself but I don't want to order all the stuff just for this 1 box. I do have a box already built for the sub that should bang like crazy. Ported and tuned at 34hz. |

I am also running a single ported 8" sub in small box. It sounds great. Since you already have a box you may want to test it in various places to see what you like. Right now I'm playing around with the ski pass area.

Since I won't have the DA-2 for a while do you think an Electronic Crossover would be a good choice as long as it has enough inputs and outputs for my set-up.
I was thinking the COE8 has 8 inputs and 8 outputs. From the factory wiring after the amp (Technic harness really) I will use the front left and right (2 channels) Rear Side left and right (2 channels) and the sub left and right (2 channels). I could then send the signals to a 3 way crossover and then out to the amps. So that would give me front, rear and sub out of the crossover. Front and rear would go to the 4 channel amp (I passed on the PDX amp) and the sub channel to my Mono amp. I was even considering Y cable from the 3rd channel to 2 different amps on my trunk sub and the factory subs. Whatcha think????? |

I don't think there are any other options. There's the da1, but that's just the da2 with toslink out. IIrc the jl cleansweep doesn't sum and doesn't have enough differential inputs. Someone here tried the Alpine pxa660, but it didn't work.

I think it's popularity is mostly due to how easy it is to auto-tune your system. The price point is probably another factor. Even with the problems it has calibrating the underseat mid-bass, once you figure out a work around it can sound very good.
For me, I needed two of the amplified channels from the MS-8 to run my front tweeters active. So there is a flexibility factor too. You raise an interesting thought though. The MS-8 does sum, so it seems if (and I don't know if this is possible) you could run the right combination of channels out of the OEM amp to the speaker level inputs, you may be able to get a flat full range signal. That would negate the need for the DA2. I don't know anyone who has tried that. |
