for some ppl one-wheel-drive is enough. Some of those just don't care, others would care if they would know what are they missing. Not to mention the LSD should be stock on 335i and 335d, or at least an OEM option.

Hey, question, they are taking apart the welded Difs and isntalling the LSD? and thats the 2k something price?

What exactly are they doing to un-weld it?

What if we have a non-welded differential and we want to order a prefabbed one, would that be any cheaper since it's obviously less work to convert?

Also are the Diffs new or taken from wrecked cars?

1. Yes. For cca 2400 + shipping + customs.
2. I don't know about the exact procedure. Didnt even ask. Secret.
3. If U have a non welded unit, good for U. It will be cheaper, but I'm almost sure U can order the pre-fabbed unit, too, and use this deal too, as ppl I expected to jump on it didn't even chime in, so there is a lot of free slots for thye luckier ones with bolted units.
4. I dont think Kevin@Birds walks around wreckyards looking for pumpkins. But U can ask him. PM me if U need contact info.

well, it looks like purplewidow is the only one who actually jumped on this deal. Now no wonder Kevin stated GBs don't work.

purplewidow> congrats and enjoy. Really eager to see your review then.

I'm talking to Kevin right now -- just got the quote... still deciding if i actually need it since i don't track my car very often...

all you guys who got LSD's... you track your car often, correct? The LSD won't make much difference on the public roads, i don't think... is that right?

it does a huge difference, but it depends on your actual needs. I find your approach wise. It's pretty much money, consider it wisely. U won't find a good use for it cruising @ 70mph on the highway. But if U like spirited driving on curvy roads or even if U go to track from time to time, U have a good reason to get one. I'm sure U won't regret it once U have it onboard, but maybe U can use the $$ better.

I track twice a year. But I enjoy the lsd every day. Few mods short of a ecu tune have this kind of impact on the driving performance of this car. Not only is it a handling mod, but it's a speed mod also as you are putting power down in ways you never could with a one-legger.

I also think this is one mod that will not hurt re-sale.

I go on track days whenever I get the chance to, but I enjoy my Quaife every single day. The car is a big toy now

new update - AZ_90 added to the list. Congrats.

Info from him about the availability - if U send out your pumpkin for conversion, it will be made upon agreed schedule. If U ask Birds for an exchange unit, it will take about a month to deliver, as all of their exchange units are out atm.

It looks like the converted quaife LSD's from Birds are sold like hot cakes.

still 5 slots open out of 10.

Have any of you thought about waiting for the Dinan LSD? That way you could have an LSD without worry about voiding the warranty on your drivetrain? What are your thoughts?

my thought are if U're worried about your warranty dont do any mods. Anyway, the Quaife LSD will only void your warranty for the differential and final drive, nothing more, as they are removed. But this should not really bother U. On the other hand, the Quaife LSD has lifetime warranty, how do U feel about that?

Regarding Dinan - read post #7 (thx purplewidow)
