Whoever starts the next group buy, please send me a PM as I'm down for sure - I'm just not certain on my fitment yet (haven't done the research).

Edit: I've got a 2007 with the auto, I believe build date is Jan 07... from what I can find, the OEM final drive is a 3.46. Does this mean I require the 3.46 "pumpkin"? Why is it listed as Mainland US only??
As you have the large bolted diff, you only need the LSD Unit Only (no pumpkin, no core charge), which is what this group buy is for

Hi guys, thought I'd post a quick review of the MFactory LSD on my E92 335i. I had this (and a few other goodies) fitted by Advan Performance not long ago.. I can't speak highly enough of Advan Performance and BMR Autowerkes - they've been my one stop shop for mods.

It's been pissing down rain recently in Sydney, so I haven't tested the LSD in anger (nor with DSC/DTC off - will try this some time in future). In the wet, the difference is night and day with the LSD. The traction control lights used to go bezerk even during light throttle, but with the LSD fitted, the car grips and accelerates far better in the wet, and requires much more throttle for traction control to kick in. Definitely much better grip, acceleration and predictability when accelerating in the wet.

In the dry the difference is especially noticeable coming hard out of tight corners. The traction control won't react fast enough to catch the car before it slides out slightly, so beware of this. In a straight line (in the dry) the traction control definitely kicks in less with aggressive driving, but with the power the car puts down, its impossible to avoid wheel spin if you mash the accelerator (JB4/downpipes) - need to learn to gradually apply throttle to the point just before loss of traction. Hard to feel whether acceleration off the line has improved much, but I'd imagine so.

The MFactory LSD is very quiet, except there is some slight delayed backlash(?) noise when I come off the throttle after accelerating hard. I'll get this checked out when I get the car serviced in the next month or so (and diff oil changed out), but even if this noise is normal, I could easily live with it.

Was it worth the money? Probably, for the sake of occasional spirited driving and driving in the wet.. but I'd imagine most of the benefits would be seen on a track.
Great review but these diffs really should be silent. I would take it back to your installer and have him check the backlash tolerances.

Sorry i've read only abit, from http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=657738

so I've got a Dec 07 e91 335i, so i assume small bolted diff.

its 3.46 however. as i understand MF-TRS-05E46A is the model people are getting? but this is a 3.15.

Sorry for my lack of mechanical knowledge, but what would changing the final ratio do?
Is there a 3.46 avail for small bolted?

DCT LSD's should be ready within the next few weeks. They won't apply to this group buy though, as this is only for the Bolted LSD's (you have a welded)

If you are AT, then you have the small bolted 3.46. If you are MT, then you have the large welded 3.08.

Answering your other question, this is for the LSD unit only i.e you reuse your original 3.46 final drive. The reference to the 3.15, notice the ">=" before it

Ah I see, so if my build is Dec07 and manual, I have a large welded 3.08 diff, and therefore this gb isn't on offer for me?

Would be good to hear from anyone on this GB that has installed.

There are a bunch of reviews here although not from this GB directly.

I'm very interested in this group buy, got my money right here.

However, reading the information, this is the Unit I need for my 'Large Welded' diff, I just required extra effort when getting it fitted over a bolted version?

Is this correct???

I'd be pretty keen too depending on time frame. An LSD is definitely something which lets the 335i down!

I'm tempted as well... went for a tour up north over a few days and noticed the rear wheels spin quite a bit as if it has an open diff without any electronic locking.

I still don't quite get how you work out which one you need? I have an E91 build dec 07 with steptronic. I understand there is a large diff and small diff?

Also I was told to ask does the deal come with the oil seals for the half shafts. I was told these are about $90 a side from BMW so sounds like it would be good to get with the package if possible.

Don, go here and look at the table half way down http://store.vacmotorsports.com/vac-...als-p2324.aspx
Steptronic after Sept 07 are a small bolted diff. Same as me as mine is a 10/07 build. If I was wanting 100% confirmation I'd shoot the vendor your VIN and get them to confirm.

I spoke to the vendor and they recommended seals and bearings as the bearings could get damaged when being pressed out of the housing as part of the process of installing the LSD centre. The only way to know if they did get damaged is to press them back in and find out you've got a bearing noise once it's all assembled and back in your car...Would you take the chance? May as well attend to the maintenance items while you're in there as you won't go back there again.

Hope that helps.
