I brought my 2007 335xi in for service in February. At the time the dealership said my car is only due for the software update recall and is not affected by the injector or hpfp recall. So all they did was the software update.
Now in April I just had to bring in my car for service again (due to something unrelated: transfer case failure). This time I brought it to a different dealership. They now told me that the car also needs the injector check and hpfp replacement. So they checked all injectors but didn't find any needing replacement. They did put in a new hpfp (part # 170). This raises the question: has BMW updated its database for what recall tasks need to be performed between February and April? Or did one of the two dealerships look up the recall info for my car incorrectly??? |

is there anyway to check if this service was performed already? I just had my car a few months now and now and while driving I get random engine malfunctions and it says reduced power. I work 80 hours a week so it's hard for me to get it into a dealer, but I'll end up having too. If I just pull over and turn off the car and turn it back on it's fine. I've heard that this is probably this problem. I'll have to take it in. I just didn't know if you can get a service history online or over the phone without going into the shop
edit: answered my own question. called the dealer and gave them the VIN. Scheduled service for 3 recalls. Awesome Last edited by B0b335xi; 04-19-2011 at 04:02 PM.. |

[QUOTE=Markus22;9407179]They did put in a new hpfp (part # 170).
QUOTE] Does it say anything like reman after the part number? That is a new part number I think.

so ive got an 07 with about 62k now. I bought it CPO when it was 46k. I havent had any HPFP work done but i did get the turbos/wastegate replaced at 47k. Looking back on my service history paperwork, i dont think the HPFP was ever replaced either. Should I go in and get any of this recall work done?

Yes, 10 yrs/120K miles on the HPFP. Not sure if they will ding you on updating the software, probably not given there is a recall on. But be sure to ask when you drop it off!

Thanks for the prompt answer, the correct information, and for not jumping all over me for asking a question that I'm sure has been answered...

My E90 335i MT, March 2007 build, had the HPFP replaced with the #170 part and the the updated software.
Also had the last dealer oil change, brake fluid, and microfilter replacement completed. Unfortunately I do notice turbo lag now. Exhaust note is lower at idle. The lag is not horrible, but it is not something I am imagining either. I am not sure if I should live with the change, or should I take it back to the dealer and request the 'wastegate control' option. Will they even know what this is anymore? Annoying that this is still an issue after all these years! |

Military stationed in Germany had the HPFP issue and replaced free of charge! German warranty is usually only covered for 2 years. By German standards i was not covered but because the car is US spec they replaced the pump. Still not sure exactly which pump model was used?

Recall Work
I brought my vehicle into the dealership for a CBS based brake fluid flush and was informed that they would also perform this recall. I had not yet received a letter from BMW, so I was suprised.
Not only did they perform this service, but during a test drive they noticed that my car had no boost. They replaced a vacum accumulator upon further analysis. They also replaced a microfilter and also both cup holders due to peeling. Here are the parts that they used: PKHPP - High pressure pump 13-53-7-582-770 - ASA-BOLT 13-51-7-616-446 - EXCHANGE HIGH PRESS 13-53-7-614-317 - SENSOR FOR LOW PRESS 11-65-2-247-620 - VACUM TANK 64-31-9-142-115 - MICRO FILTER I have a 335i sedan with a build date of September 2007. Dealership is Crevier BMW in Santa Ana and Sonny is my SA. My experience with Crevier has been exceptional and they have always exceeded my expectations. |

Well I might be having some problems in my '09 now.
I have already had the HPFP replaced twice. The last time was over the winter and I have to check the paperwork, but I believe the HPFP was a 933. This morning driving to work I got the half engine light, reduced power warning. I thought I have had some longer than normal cranks lately but they seem intermittent. I shut the car off and turned it back on and the light was gone. I just hope I make it home okay. I am out of warranty except for the extended warranty of the pump so I hope it is either nothing or the pump. I will bring it to the dealer tomorrow.

From your build date, it sounds like you might be getting towards the end of your warranty this year. Shortly before that happens, be sure to go over your car with a fine tooth comb and note anything and everything that does not function like new. Sounds like your dealership is one that will remedy everything you find with zero hassle.
