I haven't been able to time when they're open with my own availability yet.
I'm having some other issues now with he reverse camera and connecting via ZLink to AA. So I need to figure out what happened there before I get back to the phone/AA issue. |

So about 2 weeks ago, I started having trouble getting ZLink to connect to my phone for AA. BT and the hotspot are connected, it just never get's past the ZLink splash screen. No idea what happened.
About the same time, my rearview camera stopped working all together (it just never comes on when I put hte stick in reverse). Also about the same time, my phone calls started sounding terrible. Tinny, and potentially out of just 1 speaker. Not sure if these issues are connected or not. I'm going to talk to the installer I used and ask if they can trouble shoot. I miss the Android Auto experience for sure (and the pandora/spotify integration). But I was told my voice is clearler over the old bluetooth setup, which I thought was interesting. PArticularly because I sprang for the upgraded microphone setup with the AVIN. edit: I got a new phone, and once connected, AA started working again. Still having the same issues with the Avin's native phone "app" kicking out AA's phone app, and then having trouble reconnecting. Last edited by AWD Addict; 09-13-2022 at 11:54 AM.. |

Anyone out there using this have the same issue I have with phone calls? I want Android Auto to handle the calls, and right now, the Avin's native phone app is overriding AA, and handling the calls.
So when a call comes in, I can't use my NAV, and sometimes, when the call ends, it doesn't flip the BT connection back properly, and AA won't connect. I tried changing the Android settings and installing the Android native phone app, but that didn't work. I want to disable the Avin Phone feature, but can't figure it out. It's got to be a setting. No way no one else on the internet has flagged this. |

Have you updated the software on that unit since you got it? I had a ton of conenction drops / lagging with mine until I updated it and its been very very smooth since then. Feel free to PM if you need to. |

I've been having intermittent Android Auto issues, too. As well as the phone app issues. AWD Addict Did you just use google updates, or did you get a new firmware from Avin?

The update SORT OF repaired the issue. I've been working with AVIN support, who emails back and forth with hotlinks to update files.
The Avin does now use Android Auto to handle calls rather than the AVIN phone screen, but instead of Bluetooth kicking out and my call getting deferred to the AVIN phone system, after a minute or so on the call my wifi kicks out, and the call drops to my phone directly. Repairing that connection (by reconnecting the wifi) sometimes works, but almost never permanently (it'll just kick out again). I can confirm when it's kicking the call out, the Bluetooth connection stays solid now. I can see the wifi kick off when the call leaves Android Auto. Sometimes the Android wifi is showing up twice on the wifi list. (?) I think it's a ZLink problem now, if I'm guessing. I plan to send them a note on the new status and see if they can help. Generally support isn't bad, it's just in China, so there's a 1 day lag from when I email them to when they reply. Last edited by AWD Addict; 08-08-2023 at 04:03 PM.. |

Also, my mic issues were fixed in the system settings. The microphone gain was set to 0.

AVIN Sent me a specific zlink patch. WiFi is steady now and call works properly for 1-2mins on AA screen, then BT disconnects and my phone can't reconnect to the AVIN.
Feels like I'm getting close? I emailed them back today. I'll post if I make any progress. * They're telling me to "do a factory data reset." I'm not sure precisely how to do that, but I intend to take a run through the settings tonight and see if that's an obvious process. * They're saying after that, reinstall the Zlink App from the APK installer or file manager. Where do I download the correct Zlink app? Last edited by AWD Addict; 08-08-2023 at 04:02 PM.. |

Okay, Update. I think this is FINALLY working perfectly.
Per AVIN's customer service tech, I did the following yesterday. * delete Zlink * reset bluetooth/wifi (in system reset options menu) * performed factory reset. * let unit reinstall everything (it installed zlink on it's own, I didn't have to). Phone calls work durably and perfectly, all on android auto. No more bluetooth disconnects or the Avin phone app taking over calls or other issues. Had a 10 minute call last night and a 40 min call today. Both perfect. It reset the mic gain to 0 when I did the factory reset, so be sure to pump it back up (sounds like the middle of the range works fine). Bit of a struggle to get this thing running perfectly, but it's amazing having the modern interface in my 15 year old car. I love it, and I don't have to have the stupid "Tablet stuck to the Dash" setup that all modern cars have. Looks so ridiculous. AA Last edited by AWD Addict; 08-14-2023 at 12:00 PM.. |
