Dealer just made me a key, charged me for it, then the key didn't work. They said they could replace the CAS and give me a new set of keys, for the low low price of $2400, so I walked, eating the cost of the useless key.
Had a locksmith come out, they couldn't get the CAS3 unlocked without a working key, because it had new enough software on it to block the hack their tool uses. Another $75 in the toilet. Ended up sending the DME and CAS to a dude in Louisiana somewhere who read the DME and used the DME's info to decrypt the CAS and program it with new keys. He insisted that he didn't flash the DME... I guess now that the car isn't in (as many) pieces I can just re-run the bimmerlabs flash to be sure. |

Following up from before, I finally ran the diagnostics today and saw a DME error, Invalid Data or something along those lines.
I'm thinking that whatever tool the locksmith used to make a key overwrote the bootsector with one that did not bypass the RSA check. I first tried to re-run the 328 to 330 code, which failed. Then I re-ran the RSA delete (worked) and the 328 to 330 again, and that worked, and i heard the DISA's flipping, which I haven't heard in months. Cleared codes (including 2FA3 by sending default coding to the 6MOT), test drove it, and woooohooooo! i feel like I just swapped from a 318 to a 330 No more barely hitting 65 on the highway for me. |

Hopefully someone can help with this. I swapped a 2006 330i intake manifold into my e91 2011 328xi. The throttle body gaskets are different between the two models, so I'm not sure which gasket to order. I kept the 2011 throttle body, so do I order the 2011 gasket, or the 2006? Or should I have swapped the throttle bodies too?
Thanks in advance! |

Just flashed the RSA delete and 330 tune. Any ideas what these codes mean? I'm getting u0100 and u1100 which my searches point to a component losing communication with a computer. Car seems to run fine. Tested disa flaps with INPA and they cycled ok.

I'm gathering the parts to do this mod. Is it required to use BMW screws? The cheapest I can find the 50x35 screw part no: 11617535850 is $12.00. A lot more than $0.62 the OP paid 10 years ago!
Anyone know if there is a cheaper alternative? |

Are you referring to the manifold bolts? I re-used my stock ones. They don't have that much torque required so I doubt they would stretch significantly. All I replaced was the manifold gaskets at the intake ports on the head (the 6 oval ones). Re-used the stock TB gasket as it looked good still.
Side note, after clearing my codes and driving a while, they seem to be staying away for now. |

The Bimmerlabs 328 - 330 tune will work with headers but it just won't be optimized to make use of the extra airflow (no timing or AFR adjustments, etc) but it won't hurt anything or decrease your power. If you delete a downstream o2 sensor it will still throw a code. If you are looking to mess with That kinda stuff go custom tune.

It's just an error code for the post-cat sensors. It doesn't actually make any difference.
naturally though, it won't be optimized for headers. That costs money. |

Yea, StageFP sells an n52 tune that accommodates for the 3IM, headers, and MILVs. I think you can choose which mods you have installed, and it will flash your car accordingly. I wanna say it costs about 600 to 700 bucks, but is definitely worth it if you have all those mods done

Bottom line on DISA retrofit / DIY?
Thanks for setting this up, I'm pretty stoked to get such a big gain on a 325xi N52 with this mod, and will start to collect parts.
This thread is 30+ pages, do we have a current breakdown of tips and tricks? The physical swapout shouldn't be too bad, my car is 85k miles and has starter replaced, but is there a list of "while you're in there" stuff to check/replace? Also chip tuning: I'm a bit boggled by the tuning options out there, I'm a middle-aged dad that inherited this car and having fun working in the garage, I'm not looking for crazy low gas mileage extreme reflashing, but to just get my 40hp out of this upgrade. I see module mail-in reflash, ASDL/usb reflash, go to a local guy/dealer options - honestly, what's the cheapest, most reliable/low risk flash option? Sidebar - I am not looking forward to the oil pan gasket, which is leaking. |
