Nope -- that's part of the Active Cruise Control and discussed in the manual (the system "sees" the side of the road and thinks it's a car). I don't have that option, and the car maintains speed through turns.

actually that's included in the dynamic cruise control that comes standard with the car. it uses inputs from the DSC system to tell it when the car has trouble with traction or is possibly sliding.

Good to know -- I forgot that part. It sounds no different than DSC cutting throttle in non-cruise driving.

I just figured out that the braking for MT on hills works in forward as well as reverse. IE if the hill is going downhill and you put it in reverse or even in 1st it will hold you until you start on the gas. Nice touch especially when you park facing downhill.

If you have iDrive and Bluetooth...

... and, like me, you use voice recognition but your phone doesn't use "(Home)", "(Work)" etc. to differentiate numbers, this may be for you.

If you've done a "Dial name" and iDrive has selected the correct name but wrong number, you can use the multi-function steering wheel buttons to highlight the correct entry. Note that voice command is still active, so you can still say "Yes" and the highlighted number will now be dialed.

I didn't read everything here, but here are some things that I have learned:

1. When you set the cruise control, not only does it display your speed in the little orange box, but a little white hash mark comes up at the top of the speedometer to mark your speed.

2. Pushing forward on the brights while the car is off activates a pre-set timed safety lighting

3. There is a rechargeable flashlight in the glovebox

4. Homelink only works with the car ON

5. Works perfectly with my iPhone

EDIT:
Just figured out today

6. The 6 buttons under the CD player are touch sensitive and can be programmed for Contacts, Entertainment or Navigation. I had thought it was just radio preset buttons.

If someone is sitting in the passenger seat and NOT buckle up while you drive above a certain speed, the seatbelt warning chime and warning light will come on as well.

With CA lock the car. Now open the trunk. Throw the key into the trunk and close it again.

A second later the trunk will open by itself :-) with the horn sounding twice.

For all of you that appear not to be reading your manuals: Do this only if you have CA!

With my ACC the car actually reduce speed through turns. I have MT and the car will slowly increase accelerator after changing gears with ACC on. I can drive with ACC in town without a problem.

It also has lane change mode and will "look" towards the lane depending on which side you turn the indicator to.

It turns ACC off after 30mins of not detecting any stationary strong reflectors next to the road.

When driving too close to the car in front for a while ACC will take over and keep the close distance for a short while and then slowly increase the distance to the set distance.

If you push the 2nd memory seat function while driving your mirrors will change directions... I don't know if it's a factory pre-set direction, or whether it will change the mirrors to your pre-set direction of choice of seat position 2

That's the way it is supposed to work. They go to the position that you have pre-set for position 2.

You can read the odometer with engine off (and electrical off), by pressing the odometer reset button. Lights up the digital display between the speedo and tach for about 20 seconds.

My A4 will display the clock/mileage for a few seconds as well when you open the door, even when there is no key in ignition. I think they do this so when you bring the car in for service, the service person can just open the door and get your mileage for the invoice paperwork.

I'm a nit picker when it comes to aesthetics and spacial relationships so.........did you ever notice that the curve of the instrument pod is the same arc as that of the steering wheel?

That's true of most cars that have a separate pod for the instruments, AFAIK.

If you turn on the turn signal in either direction while the car is off, it will turn on your side markers only for the side the turn signal is turned to. Good for parking on streets.
