I found some of hotrod's older vbox results. Full weight on RFTs with the same mods as today no nitrous, he ran an identical 12.4@118 that I ran.

Perhaps my car isn't as slow as I thought!

Pretty sure the 1lb to 10lb conversion is bunk. Its worth more than a 1 to 1 ratio, but no more than 1:3.

Best info you will find on wheel weight effect on cars as its not theory craft or what the average forum surfer knows. It shows real results by a solid source.

http://www.caranddriver.com/features...d-tires-tested

In theory, sheding 560lbs at your 1:10 ratio only increased zero to 60 times by 3.8%. If you shed that much weight truly from a car, the improvement would be vastly greater.

Good article. Looks like shedding 7 lbs per wheel is worth 1 mph. Shedding 14 lbs per wheel is worth 2 mph, at least on that car.

Anyone know the weight of the OEM rims (non-sport)?

It is a great article although I doubt there is anyone shedding 14lbs per wheel on this car unless they get 15 inch ultra light weight SSR's or something lol.

Yea, i am not sure how going faster and more powerful effects the difference, but not the benifits we all wish we could get from lighter wheels.

So basically upgrading my heavy ass 189's to a lightweight 18 inch wheel is worth 1 mph and improved mpg.

Any ideas on a lightweight 18 inch wheel? Even the VMR V710 is still heavy as anything... I think the stock 189's are like 27 lbs or so.

24.8 front 26.3 rear.

I was looking at the TRMotorsport MT1s actually. They are OEM size, weigh 7 lbs less, and look like they'd be a hell of a lot easier to clean than these 189s!

Wow I just looked those up and they are incredibly cheap for such lightweight wheels... I hope they are durable and strong not like Rotas or some knockoff junk.

Unfortunately the fronts are sold out at tirerack.

I guess it's time to go hunting for a used set local to me. Maybe I can score a sweetheart deal somewhere. Figure I can sell off my 189s to recoup some of the cost. Not like I want them anyway lol.

IDK why people knock Rotas I've ran them for years with no problems on other cars as well as laundry list of friends.

No idea about other people's experiences but I have always seen them on very cheap cars and the universal word is that they're quality is questionable. I've actually seen this and spoken to others that have as well;

It seems like they don't fare so well after impacts.

Aaaah yes yes yes, finally! Perspectives are shifting from cheap replica cast (heavy) wheels like Miro, VMR, etc etc to more performance oriented wheels.

If you are on a budget:

* Apex wheels - currently on top of my list.
* LTW wheels
* LTW5 wheels

If you can spend about $3K:
* CCWs

If money is no object, well, then pretty much you can get anything you want...

EDIT: I'd love me some Rotiform Super Concave Nues, but I just can't justify spending $4k on them considering the cost of the rest of my mods...

Man, I was always for lightweight rims... the last thing you want are heavy wheels to steal mpg's and acceleration.

I would rock these in a second;

You got it!

I've been saving up for some custom CCW myself.
