i bought the Epoxy garage kit from home depot...one set for the grey coating and the other for the top clear coat...
but first i had to fill the gaps between the concrete slabs in order to have a "smoother" surface... Day 1 - about three hours to sweet dust and fill the concrete gaps Day 2 - wet and etch the floor, that took around 2 hours or so Day 3 - apply base coat (the chemical mix must apply within 2 hours, depends on humidity and sun) then requires about 12-24 hours to dry and ready for another coat, depends on humidity Day 4 (optional) - if you feel like to apply double base coat, repeat "day 3" Day 4 - apply clear coat after about 24 hours after previous step. application must apply within 2 hours after mix, let dry for about 24 hours or so.... here's a good step-by-step guide to read... http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/how-...174654,00.html

+1! I was planning to epoxy my garage as well couple months back when I had a week off. After some online research, found out you should spend 1-2 days alone on prepping the area, otherwise the finish wouldn't come out right.
Well, turns out my uncle had painted the garage floor multiple times over the years. So now, the three uneven layers of cheap blue and gray (don't ask) paint are chipping all over the place. ![]() I thought it was gonna be a one day project, two the most. Ended up getting lazy and going to Rowland Heights almost everyday for some boba from Teabar. ![]() |

i thought about just doing some regular paint coating...but since i havn't move in the new home yet...might as well do it right....or at least with a better and more long lasting material....
yah...it took me four days to finish the entire garage, from filling gaps to final clear coat.... the good thing was that each step only took around 3 hours or so....

I read the HD stuff that is labeled as commercial grade is not really commercial grade. Did you have a brand new garage floor?
I think mine needs more prep than normal because of the prev. owner's oil stains and stuff like that. I'm just worried about doing it and it coming up on the tires in the next couple of years. Thoughts?

Since I have a new floor (but one part covered with unknown grease by the contractor, but the seller end up gave me 250 bucks for settlement ![]() JT, maybe you have to clean and etch the garage floor more thoroughly to make sure there's no dust, dirt or grease...

the epoxy mix MUST be applied withing 2 hours after you mix the "activator" for me is even less....i can feel the paint is thickening and curing after about 1 hr 15 mins....since my garage is facing East and towards the sun during Morning thru afternoon....so I had to haul ass and do it fast....
