yesterday, scalped 5 SPY calls and made $90
feels like a win even though everything else lost money

Gotta celebrate the small wins in the mist of losses, not everyone is getting them.

I made some good gains on VIX calls

Growth stocks are chugging higher. Financials are announcing strong earnings including rising consumer borrowing which is a good sign for growth. Powell’s prepared remarks were benign and after he testifies tomorrow the market could zoom. Or not.

I believe you might be talking about me lol, I bought $65k, 1200 shares at $53.89, so currently at a loss of $25,980

Still holding, no other choice lol. I really hope everyone is right about the whole hedge fund thing eventually blowing up and it’ll all be worth it in the end.

If playing AMC. I'd be looking at options for September expiration on the dips down to 32ish. Some are projecting August will be fruitful. I believe the 40 strike was hovering around $800

I got my rear handed to me this month with CZR. New players don't seem to be playing the same game. Ouch.

If you have that many shares you should be writing some covered calls to lower your cost and make some income while you wait

To be completely honest, I don’t have a clue what calls and puts is all about, I’ve tried looking into it but just haven’t gotten to comprehend the whole concept of it. Not sure if stupid or just haven’t really applied myself to actually learning about it

They are non-trivial. But then I got them on RH app, and their interface and guides make them sensible. That's the genius of RH. The more challenging part is when to buy and sell, takes practice, tread lightly

Today, just get into NLY, Annaly Capital Management Inc. With 10% dividend, and as long as the Fed keep subsidizing the market, it will be good.

at least the technicals show AMC to be oversold.... so could be a pop coming.

I think CLF will come back too, it seems to like to bounce a lot off the 50

Tony Zhang and these videos are excellent. Usually helpful to view the same video a few times concentrating and then listen a few times to the same video while your out walking or putzing around and the whole options game starts to become clear.

(options are too intense for me)

i'm glad to see SOFI bouncing back a bit
have too many shares and options riding on that one
need it to get back over $20

some of my other plays
HA - sold 3 cash secured puts before the most recent wave of COVID worries ... the puts are deep ITM now. hopefully i can roll it and not be too deep in the hole
SPRT - 300+ shares, 1 call option that i should have doubled down on when share price dipped below $4
TLIS - FOMOed into this one today for 100 shares

MU - followed someone's trade, bought a June 2022 LEAP and sold a PMCC and then rolled it as share price dropped

PTON - a few shares, couple of call spreads and CSP, let's go!

still bagholding BB and PLTR and selling CC's

Does anyone have the skinny on the chip stocks? Someone has to go up in the next month or few.
MU is getting no market respect lately....

I started with Calls and Spreads which is basically gambling. Picking shit companies and being stuck with them. Now I'm just solely buying above average companies that pay decent quarterly dividends. I'm also going to build up a portfolio in monthly dividend etfs.

^This. I suppose if you have play money, doing Calls/Puts/Spreads/Day Trading/Penny stocks/etc could be fun. For the average investor though? Hell no. You would be just as lucky with your money going to the casino.

I've generally stuck to the Warren Buffet 2 minute retirement plan plus a few of my own stock choices (Activision/Blizzard, Berkshire Class B, Tesla, a few bond funds) and it's been EXTREMELY lucrative over the past 10 years or so. Starting next month, my investment dividends will be used to offset a voluntary 20% reduction in salary so that I can go to a 32 hour work week vs fulltime (45-60 hours).
