Daz? If so, nice to see you around here. I hope you can work some wonders with tuning these cars like you have done with the B5 S4s.

Pet project I guess. I'm not interested in the BMW's in particular, moreso the intricacies of the bosch controllers. Understanding how things are done across models does wonders for one's perspective! I'd love to help out, and I'm pretty sure with some assistance I can. I've been rather held back in the other groups as they don't have easy access to tools to flash the controllers.

I ordered a connector and some terminals for the transmission. The plan is to populate the K-Line and route it to an OBD-Connector female. Then I should be able to flash .0pa/da files and then extract them again as binaries. Give me a few weeks though. Work is crazy these days.

If I could only get my hands on a spare mechatronic unit. That would make things much easier...

Wrong? What do you mean?

When I'm in D - it does not change gears at full throttle, is this what you mean?

That will do little good if the file has to be flashed over OBD (the unit is potted), only works on a open unit where rapid flash over BDM (or alike) is possible. Since the flash still has to pass RSA signature checks (compared to the RSA, the checksums are a breeze).

Best regards, Dave

Anyone know if the Fords that use this trans have RSA? They are getting remapped over OBD.

Not sure of the precision of that statement. Yes, it is possible to flash the TCU. Been done by members here, using OEM files that are hardware compatible. That is a very limited universe. What we can't do is make even the smallest of changes and successfully flash. Are you saying that you can? Just trying to understand.

Can you glean that from the HPtuners program? I dont know how much access you might have to the "back end" of the program but if RSA is needed to flash those properly the program would have to be doing that.

Exactly, what I was thinking. Unfortunately, ever since the email barage from this forum, Eric Brookes (HPtuners),is not answering my email.
I don't have any access into their software.

I am saying that I have the capabilities to customize these files, then write them to the controllers, yes. The issue is the hardware and software required to do this is cost prohibitive. I even have the factory calibration files for some of these, I know what the maps look like, what they do, and how to manipulate them to do what I require.

What I'm trying to do is to help facilitate a DIY approach

OK, great. If the hardware and software are cost prohibitive, how do we make this a DIY approach?

BTW, several here are also familiar with the maps and also have OEM calibrations.

rjahl, just binary extraction I guess.

I posted a link to my bin a few pages back. Warning it from a different gearbox than what most of you are looking at. ZF6HP19a

I'll look at the checksums. I think I know where they are but it's been a while.

Do you have the a2l files by any chance?
With DWR 's impressive work we have managed to identify a few shift maps but not much about which ones are utilized when. It would also be nice to know where the clutch maps are and how they work.

What would happen if you manually disable the p-lock in the E90? Will it run on the E60 SAT software without going into failsafe?
Haven't disabled the p-lock, but I have loaded this software and it turns the dashboard into a christmas tree. No way could I regularly drive the car like that.

I began looking at it from the other direction. Pulling the mechatronics & shifter out of an E60 version. Got to be plenty of E60's or E71's in the boneyards thanks to the stupid N62 coolant issues. That said I'm in one of my valleys of the relationship with my car. Right deal pops up and it's gone. Maybe i'll look at this more on the upswing.

Excellent. Thanks! Always eager to learn more about this transmission.
This is the latest data file I've been using.
