Pet project I guess. I'm not interested in the BMW's in particular, moreso the intricacies of the bosch controllers. Understanding how things are done across models does wonders for one's perspective! I'd love to help out, and I'm pretty sure with some assistance I can. I've been rather held back in the other groups as they don't have easy access to tools to flash the controllers. |

If I could only get my hands on a spare mechatronic unit. That would make things much easier... |

Not sure of the precision of that statement. Yes, it is possible to flash the TCU. Been done by members here, using OEM files that are hardware compatible. That is a very limited universe. What we can't do is make even the smallest of changes and successfully flash. Are you saying that you can? Just trying to understand.

Can you glean that from the HPtuners program? I dont know how much access you might have to the "back end" of the program but if RSA is needed to flash those properly the program would have to be doing that.

BTW, several here are also familiar with the maps and also have OEM calibrations. |

I'll look at the checksums. I think I know where they are but it's been a while. |

With DWR 's impressive work we have managed to identify a few shift maps but not much about which ones are utilized when. It would also be nice to know where the clutch maps are and how they work. |

I began looking at it from the other direction. Pulling the mechatronics & shifter out of an E60 version. Got to be plenty of E60's or E71's in the boneyards thanks to the stupid N62 coolant issues. That said I'm in one of my valleys of the relationship with my car. Right deal pops up and it's gone. Maybe i'll look at this more on the upswing.
