At least for non-Comfort Access E9X's, if you lock the door while the trunk is open, the lights will not flash once as they normally do. But then, when you actually close the trunk, they flash.

Hmm on my cars, the lights flash but the alarm doesn't beep until the trunk/tailgate is closed.

Is there a way using the key fob to close the windows and sunroof? Just like how you can use the fob to roll down and open by pressing the "arrow" button, is there a way to reverse this?

Thanks

Not in the United States. Non-U.S. cars can do this by holding down the lock button on the key fob. It is speculated that litigation fears prevented BMW from including this feature in the U.S.

You can do it in two other ways. If you have Comfort Access, you can do it by keeping your finger on the "lock" point on your door handle. If you do not have Comfort Access, you can do it by inserting the actual key into the lock and keeping it turned.

Thanks, I do have confort access. I don't know what the lock point is, but I'll check out the door handle when I get home tonight.

Re: using the metal key versus using the key fob to close all windows/roof; It make no sense that you can use the metal key but not the fob if they are concerned about litigation

You have to be deliberate in your action to closing the windows and roof using the metal key (pushing the key in the hole, then turn).

However, the buttons on your key fob could be accidentally "pushed in" by other objects.

In addition to achien's comment, with the metal key (or the CA touch point) you have to be right next to the car. With the key fob you could be (gasp) 15' away and possibly not watching as your dear old mother is decapitated by the closing sunroof.

I mean the place where you put your finger to lock the car. I forget what BMW calls that place.

Yeah, but with the key fob you have to press and hold for several seconds, how is that not deliberate?

Feature I just learned about: Disabled passenger airbag.

I was driving myself nuts because I was coming from a vehicle that had its airbag completely disabled, along with a light indicator, when NO ONE was in the passenger seat.

As it turns out our disables passenger airbag is only a weight sensor for kids, so only activates with a certain amount of lbs. The airbag works when there is no passenger in the car.

Tried mine, and it works. It took about 3-5 seconds. BTW, no CA.

Hello all. Here is something that I bet some owners aren't aware of...

If you purchased a 2006 3-series and it was built up to September or so of 2005, then it has the wrong ceiling light cover. This is ONLY a concern if you decide to have the "pre-wired" alarm system actually activated. Due to the fact that the cover is solid, it won't allow the motion sensor (ultrasonic module) to operate.

If you decide to activate this option, be sure to tell the dealer that they need to replace this solid cover with the correct "slotted" version at no charge.

ENJOY!

newbie here, this is something I found on my drive way.
I have 6MT, when I drive up on my drive way, if I hit on the brake and let go (with clutch down and still in 1st gear), the brake will still hold for like a second or 2 to allow me to get back into 1st gear. Same thing if you are backing up a slope. I like this feature.

Sorry if this is not new.
