I have a semi interesting question. What happens to the service due in xxxx miles counters during flashing? Do they get reset or stay in place?

Rob says he's doing a batch update since he didn't have internet access for a while. So there are quite a few ROMs added in.
Do you expect any significant difficulties/complications in flashing the newer "is" models with the MSD85 DME?

The service mileage counters are not altered with the AccessPORT reflash! Your BMW will still let you know when it is time to visit the dealer. Then you just uninstall the AccessPORT and head in for service like you normally would.

We are still adding "is" support to the AccessPORT. When this is finished, this car will flash just like any other vehicle. Since this vehicle uses a specific ROM, we have to do a little extra work to add support for the "is".

What about (and forgive me if I'm speaking in layman's terms) what we've heard that not even dealers have access to certain information that is pulled off the ECU when they connect to it, and that info is sent directly to BMW headquarters, so they don't even see it? Included in that info is supposedly the details they'd need if they were investigating something like a turbo failure.

Which is why GIAC recommends a flash back to stock first (not just a switch back to stock) in those cases, before going in for major warranty repair work.

Someone who knows what I'm talking about can hopefully chime in with the details of the systems.
With the AP installed BMW could certainly verify the ECU is not stock. We also recommend uninstalling to stock before heading to the dealer for any kind of work.

Cheers,
Rob

2.40.2 is a version of software BMW uses for flashing the modules in the car. I have seen and flashed ECUs which have been flashed with this version of software. No worries.

Does Cobb have any plans to add an exhaust mod to the AP?

I read somewhere that the Dinan flash basically preforms a golf tee mod through the ECU.

I don't know about you but its wet/misty where i'm at. Car would probably spin 4th if you floored it.

Still curious to see what you think of the flash. I felt the added torque right away but that could be because I'm used to only about 13psi on my relatively stock car.

Support for my ROM was included in the latest update. Flashed it, but due to the rainy weather here can't really give much of a review. A few quick midrange pulls indicates significant power and very smooth response. Can't wait for some better weather, and better rubber, and a limited slip, and upgraded suspension.... I only picked up my 335i a month ago, and already close to 6 grand spent and another 5 or so planned. Glad I went CPO and saved money for mods....
