im not even exactly sure. I know one day I woke up in extreme pain and couldnt move at all. Went to get it checked out and its some sort of infection or cysts on the tissue inside and it had to come out. But yes they cut a big hole and take it all out and stuff it with "packing" w/e that is. Fun stuff!
