New Rolex? Insanely expensive. Currently close to $20k. What input to you need? They could be had for $15k a year ago when they came out. My opinion, fool's buy today. Other opinions?

This is NOT the case just about anywhere in Europe or the US. Might be hard to get your hand on a steel Rolex, but your price is still going to be £6k/$8k-ish base. Explorers/Oyster Perpetuals/Date Justs even less for steel. ... Even many of the precious model Rolex watches are under $20k And then there's always the secondary market

116500LN Daytona's are very much in demand and are very hard to get for under $18k right now. In the US, Europe, Middle East, China, or India.

Yes, finding a new Daytona is extremely difficult unless you are close with an AD or purchase at a 30% or so premium. I have heard of some steel models being sold at cost if you also purchase a precious metal model though (not cost effective... but you get two watches )

It is tho. I get they're nice watches, but for SS Daytona that's insane. My SS Yachtmaster 2 was $14k.
That said, I would kill for a white face 116500LN.

But with what many think is Rolex artificially creating a shortage of new watches, the used market has gone up considerably over the last year. |

Love this! Looking at buying one as an investment piece currently. Trying to decide between black and green! Have you thought about investment potential of this and if so, what do you think it will be worth in 20+ years? |

Rolex prices are insane now. My Submariner, and Datejust cost more than double what I paid for them a few years ago. I can’t see them doubling in price of what they cost now. $19,000 for a SS Submariner, and $12,500 for a SS Oyster Perpetual Datejust, really... Prices generally increase a small percentage in February and March. However, the increase doesn’t apply to all models. Funny thing is, I just picked up a Seiko Sarb033, and it feels, and looks like my Datejust. I decided to remove the bracelet, and put on a Barton Navy Blue canvas strap. The combination on the Sarb033 looks really good. I also have a few timex weekender; and expedition Scout watches that I love. I prefer watches no bigger than 40mm, with simple dials. On my bucket list now is the Rolex Explorer, 39mm black dial.

^yeah, I have to agree what is going on? I used to see the black SS submariner for 7500 and 8500, date and no date... now it is almost nowhere to be found and even the lowest price is 8k with no deals to be had.

My friend works at a Rolex AD, and he told me Rolex is holding back on new inventory. A SS Submariner is difficult to locate, and no discounts if you find one. Along with the sport line Rolex watches. He doesn’t know why Rolex is doing this.

they bumped up the MSRP on the majority of their watches as well. The reasoning from Rolex Ive heard is because of supply |

Hi guys. I am new to high end watches as I have had only cheap ones in the past. I am getting married this summer and it's tradition in my girls culture for her parents to buy me a jewelry gift. She explained to them I would prefer a watch over a ring or necklace etc. They now have told me they want to buy me a Rolex. They didn't give me a price limit and sent me images of 2 they found at the store that are priced at 12.6k and 15k to give you an idea.
I am a 30 year old mechanic. It will be a watch for occasional weekend use but mainly formal events. Some opinions about what I should look into would be appreciated. I am starting my search now on their website. After reading a bit about their selection I believe I would prefer a Daytona since it was created for car racing which peaks my interest much more than something like a yacht master.
