Lags a bit more then stockies but pulls much harder.. have not had a chance to really give them a run due to peak hour traffic but I think a custom tune is needed and the weird woodland creature BOV/turbo chirping needs an explanation.. Ill try to get an audio clip of it and post it .....

Any suggestions on what to do next would be appreciated

Crappy photos attached
Hopefully you can just fix it with a stiffer spring.

Is the Tial fluttering? I think some people found that the stock vaccum line off the intake manifold was too restrictive to be able to open the Tial fast enough. They had to drill out the nipple on the intake manifold and thread in a larger brass nipple to run a wider vacuum hose.

You going to be bringing this thing to Winton? Will be awesome on the track!

Wow, taking it to the next level!! I'd agree that a suitable tune would be the next important step. Also, suggest you give your filters a clean/recharge - looks like a bit of build up happening there ....

Haha managed to spin the car out this morning turning a corner. Got to take it easier on the throttle now else it just breaks traction and shoots the rear out sideways lol. Lucky the road was empty this morning

Good work Socket!

Did Active comment about the VTT inlet installation? Was it a smooth process or a headache? Thanks

Hahaa need to get the traction control & ABS fixed first, im currently running around with all the controls turned off because of the wheel speed sensor problem. Probably why I spun the car out this morning

The problem is not the sensor but the magnetic strip in the hub that creates the signal to the wheel speed sensor, meanwhile im running TIMYOYO

Yep, Jin said it was a pretty good fit, he said there was a little trimming required to get it nice and snug and that there isn't much room for error on the rear turbo where it clamps on. Otherwise no problems... Mine is the first one they installed and removing the OEM inlets (without cutting them) and installing the VTTs took them 2 hrs

What I have noticed with the inlets fitted is the drone from the vanguards has been significantly reduced. Also noticed that there is a venting (chirp) sound coming from the turbo side when coming off the throttle at levels too low to trigger the BOV vent. I'm guessing its sucking air past one of the clamps, will need to put it up on the hoist to make sure everything is nice and tight, Here ends my report

Definitely take it easy while you have the wheel sensor fault. Dynamic stability control and anti lock brakes won't be available until it gets fixed!

It's prob just a but of turbo flutter. It's common to have light flutter noise just below the BOV vent threshold in a lot of cars. My S14 and S15 did it just below the BOV threshold.

Sounds like a flock of birds chirping under the hood when throttle is held at just the right spot lol... is as loud a BOV vent does that sound normal Brad?

Yep flock of birds is the sound and yeah you can hold it at a certain point and it'll do it for ages.

Turbo flutter will decrease the life of your turbos.

I don't see how it would be turbo flutter though.

Turbo flutter is usually caused by excess pressure not releasing through the blow-off valve when you lift off the throttle.

All the air flow being delivered by the turbo's suddenly builds up as pressure in the charge pipe when you close the throttle body suddenly. If the diverter valve or blow off valve isn't functioning correctly, this pressure has no where to escape and is then forced back through the compressor on the turbo causing the fluttering sound.

If you can imagine spinning up the turbine really fast in one direction, and then forcing it very rapidly in the opposite direction, it causes undue stress on the internals of the turbocharger.

With extra boost from the upgraded turbos, I would think it would have less trouble venting through the blow off valve, maybe check around for settings on your BOV, see what the manufacturer recommends. Did they swap the spring for a stronger one? If not, I would expect it would have trouble holding boost rather than trouble releasing it.

Not the very small amount that happens before the BOV opening threshold when a BOV is fitted. Even the effect on the turbo of a fully deleted BOV is debatable.

Most aftermarket BOVs have a stronger than factory preload and do have a bit of flutter before the opening threshold. Really not an issue.
