BMW - Samsung Charge Phone Book BlueTooth Workaround
Fix for this is counterintuitive. When you start your phone or restart bluetooth go to Settings>Applications>Running Services. Look for the Service "BluetoothPbapService". tap it, then hit stop. This removes it from the list. The phone pairs and uploads the phone book without problems until you either stop and restart bluetooth or turn your phone off. I am looking for a developer who can automate this process with an app without rooting the phone. Hope this helps.

Alright alright,
Concerning the android phones, anyone who is running a samsung, Motorola or verizon mutilated ROM may experience problems with connecting it to their car. This is not the phone's problem or a problem with the Android OS per se. Chances are the carrier mutilated Android ROMS are horrible anyway and they may have broken some pieces of the Bluetooth connectivity. I recently reflashed my G2 with CyanogenMod3. Still works with my 335 like magic!

Iphone update
I have a 2006 330i, non-idrive with the OEM Bluetooth capability and fairly original s/w. My current phone is an iPhone 3GS with current s/w and passcode lock on. I've had the phone for about two years. The phone generally works well (make and receive calls, phonebook, etc) but in the past few months I've had this occasional problem:
The phone will seem to connect to the car, and the phonebook works, but it won't make or receive calls. When I try to unpair/repair it from the car, the car won't allow me to unpair. Fixing it involves the usual rebooting the phone, fiddling with the car (head unit, ignition on/off etc) and then it works again.

As for Samsung and Motorola "mutilating" the ROM, they also add nothing more than additional software. Samsung adds that ridiculous TouchWhiz interface, and Motorola adds what they used to call "motoblur." Again, none of this should impact on Bluetooth. They may be more basic issues to how various companies implement Bluetooth, what profiles are active, etc. In any case, I think the bottom line is, proceed with caution if you are going with an Android phone. They are clearly many models that are not compatible.

Droid 3 Won't Pair
My 2008 328i w/ Idrive worked fine with the Razr phone. I removed that pairing and tried to add the new phone.
The phone 'sees' the car, I enter the passcode on both ends and the car says - Not Successful. The phone says - Pairing was rejected by BMW20861. The Droid 2 is on the compatible list. Droid 3 is brand new. Any suggestions... appreciated. peter |

Motorola Droid X2 Professional Radio
I just got my new '11 328i with the Professional radio (no nav) this week. I also picked up a ne Motorola Droid X2. The phone paired up with the bluetooth immediately and loaded the phonebook, but when I search the phone book all I see is numbers- no names (or letters at all). Is't it supposed to load the names & numbers? Did I do something wrong?

Been trying to pair my new Samsung Galaxy Nexus GSM with my '08 335i idrive, but all I get is voice and no phonebook. When I get a phone call it shows the actual phone number with no name, and the address book is empty. The sad thing is my previous phone was a 6 year old sony ericson phone that work flawlessly, but this brand new $700 phone cant sync correctly.
The phonebook is not a issue, but I would love to find a way to send audio thur bluetooth, which I heard its suppose to work. |
