Looks like BMW did think ways to make it harder in unintentionally locking yourself out the car...

I never knew that when your car is off with the key out.. and you hit the left turn signal all the way down the left angel eyes come on and so does the rear left brake strip. It works the same if you push the right turn signal all the way down and it just stays on. You can do a cool effect like strobes if you flash them right to left lol.. angel eyes go left to right so does the rear light.. pretty cool.

I found out if you push the start stop button enough times while in traffic on the freeway with an automatic it shuts the engine off while in drive and almost causes you to get hit from behind,

Also if you get mad and accidentally punch the headlight switch, it retracts into the dash and when you pull it out it still works,

Your welcome...

This doesn't work on my E90 330i.

I have found that, on a manual 330i, if you throw your car into neutral and try to shut the car off (...while still in motion), the vehicle will not shut off. You have to come to a complete stop.

edit: In my example, still in motion means 1 or 2 mph, slightly coasting (..a'la, into a parking space), etc.

Dont even offer to help your buddy jump start their car.. The battery in the back of the BMW is covered in wires and took about 20 mins to get all the crap off it to be able to jump and another 10 to put all the crap back on.

That your car will actually tell you you're an idiot (nicely of course) if you try to hit the stop button when the car is still in Drive. I learned this lesson, just this morning, when I did hit the stop button with the car in Drive and a bell warning chimes and you get an image of the P-R-N-D vertically stacked in the information center, reminding you 'ya might want to put the car in Park dummy...........

Sorry if this is not new.
yea the hill hold feature is pretty nice

That's pretty dumb
Even though battery is in the back you can still use contacts in the front, under the hood
It's even marked in red and have rubber/plastic cover
Why would you go through so much hassle digging directly into battery compartment?

Don’t judge me, only god can judge me. I happen to like breaking things. I saw the aforementioned image and heard the chimes, I choose to ignore them because I do what I want and my BMW warranty fixes it. Poophead.

works on the E93 too - but think you use the hi-beam setting

...also, hold the "unlock" button down and the roof will retract...now I understand why the local kids love to watch it opening and closing !

Well OK....wasn't really going for comic relief, but if you say so. Just thought it was interesting the car would tell me with sound and diagram that I needed to put it in P..........

Isn't there terminals up front specifically for that reason?

If you push the start button with foot on the brake but without the keyfob in place, the car will start when the keyfob is inserted.

I'm gonna try this one today.

I tried the other "keyless" trick yesterday..........and it worked, but I had to push the stop button twice to turn off the car. The first button press stopped the engine, but the radio, lights, etc. stayed on. I had to push the button another time to completely turn everything off.

I actually was in a hurry the other day and I was trying to get my key out, and the car wouldn't release it. I was trying to push/pull, push/pull, etc. I tried restarting my car. The only warning light that would come on was an image of a key, and the light showing my emergency brake was set. I proceeded to push the roadside assistance button through the stereo and while waiting for them to come on......I noticed my car wasn't in park! Oh jesus I felt like a DA. I actually started laughing to myself in my car!

I never saw the image of P-R-N-D...cause that would have saved me some grief! lol

Doesn't the battery have terminals that disconnect by a small pyrotechnic charge when a collision is severe enough to deploy the airbags? In the case of using the battery in the trunk, as opposed to the engine bay connectors, isn't the person risking setting off the charges and injuring themselves or unhooking their own battery?

As you can tell I don't know exactly how the battery safe terminals work. If I am correct jumping a car directly from the battery can be dangerous - or at least annoying if the terminals are disconnected & the pyrotechnic charge spent.
