Probably, but that's a WORK AROUND and not the issue here. What I I think we are all looking for is that it works as CLAIMED ..... and comes back on WHERE IT LEFT OFF - EVERY TIME !!!

I had a similar issue but mine ipod was jumping to the cd player and not the radio. I figured out that the problem was me and not the car.
I had a podcast playlist that I was listening to and one of the lectures was actually a video podcast and not and audio file. So when my ipod got to that file, it would not like that and jump to my cd player. It could be that you have a corrupt song file or a video file on your playlist and when the ipod is getting to it, it is messing up and going to your radio.

I don't think that's the case, because it seems to be happening at random. Sometimes it'll work with the same song, other times not. If you program one of the buttons it's not too bad. It's more of annoyance than anything else. I'd estimate that it happens to me maybe 15-20% of the time.

DEFINITELY NOT THE CASE.
I shut the car off in the middle of a song on the iPod and expect it to go back to that SAME song even if I do not turn the car back on for several days. IT DOES NOT. It ALWAYS GOES TO THE FM and the last station played on the FM. BTW - I haver nothing on the iPod except for MP3's.

I complained about it in my '06 and the SA just stared at me and blinked. There was a little bit of drool coming from his lower lip. I figured it was a lost cause.

That's pretty much what I figured. I will save my energy for places that are really issues..... like my ALARM system and the motion sensor issue.

I'm not sure I should even ask ... what issue are you having with the alarm? I just got mine activated yesterday ...

planetscott,
I have had it in 3 times to just get it installed and operating correclty. Last issue is that the motion sensors do not work. I was just told (Monday) that they just found out that "motion sensors are extra and do not come with the basic alarm". So after 3 attempts and numerous issues along the way I now am told I have to shell out more dough after the initial $500 for the alarm system. (FYI here - everything is already installed from the facotry except for the hood switch and the siren which both mount very easily under the hood - rest is just programming the dam thing wihich takes several hours). So ... I raised hell. Should have been installed prior to my picking up the car ..... should have worked the first time I picked it up - second time .... should not have been told over and over that motion sensors are part of the alarm system ..... Service Manager is working with BMW NA to (1) get the truth about included or extra and (2) get me a refund for the alarm for all the inconvenience. Was supposed to hear back last night but so far still have not heard anything. Will post as soon as I get the final answers.

When I read this post I immediately called them with the information(PUMA case#, software update, cable change and ULF module). I was told that they can't use someone else's PUMA case because that car could have different equipment and that solution may not work for my car. Makes sense. He said the next step is to set up their own PUMA case, which they would need my car for 2-3 days. I didn't really want to lose my ride for that long so I said I would get back to him. He called back me about 10 minutes later and said an employee just got a car similar to mine and is having the same issue. So I asked if they could use that person's vehicle since it's there everday, he said he would check on it. I haven't heard back so I guess they were able to. Does the OP have the navigation and I-drive, curious if that car has the same options(sport, premium, nav). My dealer was asking if my BT worked and if so, what make and model was my phone. It does and it's a Sony w810. Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience so far. It really is annoying when you have a song cranked on the ipod and it switches to FM. ![]() Waiting patiently with fingers crossed. |

I'm just PRAYING my car doesn't have this issue.
But if it does you guys will be in luck as my car will be at the dealer every day until it's fixed (and every day after that considering I work at one) ![]() |

cardude - good luck and let us know the outcome. It's good that an employee of the dealer has the same problem and can be the guinea pig.

BMW, iPod, iDrive and integration via 6FL (german report on my blog)
Hello everyone,
I've got an brand new (delivered in 2007-07) 330d Convertible equipped with the USB Audio Interface 6FL, an iPod and the Y-Adapter-Cable (part #61 12 0 422 099). I've collected some informations about the BMW 6FL iPod Integration in my blog in GERMAN LANGUAGE (including some pictures): http://www.dsdfw.de/post/20070712/bmw-ipod-idrive-6fl (You may use "Google Translate" to translate the page to english in order to understand at least a bit of it. :-)) For me, it works perfectly. Just one small disadvantages: There is no menu item for "Compilations", one has to use the Album menu, which can grow quite large on an 80 GB iPod. Hope this is information in my blog post useful for everyone. ![]() By the way, no FM switching issues yet ... :) Last edited by Stimme der freien Welt; 07-13-2007 at 03:57 AM.. |

Stimme,
I do not have the general iPod switching issue either but if I turn the car off with the system on AUX and the iPod in use the NEXT MORNING it comes up in FM and NOT AUX iPod where it left off. If I tun it off for less than an hour or so it ALWAYS comes back up in AUX iPod where it left off. Check yours out this way....

Good news.... as long as yours comes back where it is supposed to after an overnight off, it tells me that the issue is specific to my car and iPOd and not a design issue. Good to know.
Thx

I've got 6FL on my 335i, but the adapter I have is not the "Y" adapter. It's a straight cable that is USB on 1 end and connects to the iPod on the other, with no aux cable split off.
I don't have iDrive on my car, if that matters. Should I be asking my dealer to get me the Y cable? What's the difference? I can listen to music and browse playlists fine, seemingly. |

If you have 6fl get the Y adapter as it allows full control of the iPod and audio via the aux port.
