For those who don't live near a Chick-fil-A to get the joke, the company is owned by religious conservatives and almost all of their stores are closed on Sundays.

I say almost all because they recently opened a store in one of the NY State Thruway service plazas, and part of their lease was the requirement to be open 7 days a week.....

I don’t know if it was a regional thing, when I was young no stores were open on Sundays. There was one bagel store. That’s it.

That was Blue Laws all over the country in the days of yore, a great topic for the get off my lawn thread.

Bergen County, NJ still has Blue Laws in place, making NJ-17 through Paramus past the malls into somewhat of a ghost town on Sundays. When our nearest Hazard Fraught Tools was in Bergen, a friend and I went down on a Sunday to find the store open but more than half the aisles blocked off because they contained merchandise that could not be sold on Sundays.

No Swedish meatballs for you at Ikea in Paramus on Sundays!!!!!
