Replaced Vanos Solenoids after 140K Kms and cleaned the engine bay. There was so much oil and gunk, I couldn't even see the solenoids and connectors before. Eventually will have to trace down the source of it.

Finally fitted this so I can tow my motorcycle. Bit more of a PITA on a wagon with comfort access compared to their instructions but its on there:
Definitely invisible when not on: |

Thurs - it got a new right side passenger weather strip around the door
https://www.ebay.com/itm/2008-2009-2...4/162226855355 - now no more wind from 70+. Old weatherstrip was soft right at the upper corner. Been that way a while. Today - it got the AFe-Gt intake filter cleaned and oiled and the interior cleaned and bug spots removed (ext).. . Oil change in 500miles with a Oil sample going to blackstone labs and then maybe some plugs and E85 flex tune...

It also is a little cheaper if you just buy the rack receiver part. |

Popped the cover off the top of the engine
I’m currently at 192,000 miles and finally needed a valve cover gasket change. There nothing like smelling burning oil when you start the engine and also see smoke coming from under the hood. I decided to DIY because of cost and convenience. The gasket was $40 at autozone and I woke up Sunday morning and did it in about 3 hours. So far driving to work today shows no smoke or burning oil.

Replaced the water pump and thermostat. Bought the kit two years ago and now it finally threw a fault code for the water pump. In it goes!
What a bitch of a job because of how messy it was due to the bottom of my motor being soaked in dried up oil and dirt from the previous owner's neglected VCG + OFHG when I bought it. All the hoses, sway bar, connectors, etc - all just caked in a layer of oiled up dirt and grime. My arms looked like the swamp thing after. And fuck that damn top bolt! My E12 swivel socket was too thick and kept falling off the screw, so I had to make do with a 10mm hex. Re&re'ing that one bolt wasted over an hour this way. The rest was a cake walk. All in all, worth saving the $400 in labor in the end. Also installed the M3 control arm specific headlight level sensor rod. Good TLC week for the 328. ![]()

That’s a lot of grime. My engine was similar when I bought it but I thoroughly washed after replacing the OFHG. *hopefully* it’s clean down but the WP...
This phantom bolt always seems to come up. Not looking forward to it! |

Dropped my car off at RRT for rod bearings and some other love, and miss the sound of the V8 already lol.
Keeping myself occupied with this. Interior detail and carbon fiber wrap on my old e46. Finding my path through some plans to bring it back to life. |

And fuck that damn top bolt! My E12 swivel socket was too thick and kept falling off the screw, so I had to make do with a 10mm hex. It's worse on x-drive, I have done them all. 1/4 wobble extension with 1.4 socket make the job a lot easier. |

Installed sport shift knob.
![]() Also got it back from New Country in Hartford. Most of my dealer experiences over the years have been bad, but this one was excellent. Car had a leaking valve cover gasket. I have the SULEV warranty since it's an N51. They found the cover to be cracked so replaced that also and the gasket. They cleaned the engine bay, and performed the 2 recalls the car had. Never realized how much a cracked valve cover could impact the car. It seems to run/shift smoother.

Cut the white wire in the driver's side mirror to stop it from folding all the way out. I tried a few things before cutting the wire and nothing worked. Got tired of rolling the window down after starting it and manually putting it into the correct spot.
