I prefer the 9mm specific lowers versus having adapters or weird mags in a standard lower. My Aero EPC lower uses glock mags.

You don't have or want a 300 AAC AR? Ammo has come down a lot and close to 5.56.

Only considering 22LR, 9mm or 5.56. Already have 2 16" barrel ARs, a SBR AR & a 15-22 rifle so I am leaning something in 9mm...

Suggestions?

Unless I find a 9mm lower at a LGS, I'll have to use an adapter.

No 300. Not stocking new calibers.

I have a caliber problem so I am a bad influence, they are like pokemon to me. Just finished getting all the parts for the 8.6 BLK and now I am building a 6mm ARC, wanted 6.8 SPC but it's fizzled and 6mm is the next hot thing. Wish all the options for 7.62x39 weren't so crappy for AR15, not a bad idea to have something to shoot the enemies ammo LOL.

AR15 - 9 calibers depending on how & what you count
AR10 - 3 calibers

Regardless a 9mm AR is a ton of fun to shoot. Mine has a Odin barrel and Foxtrot Mike BCG. Be aware there are 2 thread patterns for 9mm barrels, so check before you buy a muzzle device for the barrel.

Just finished up a lightweight coyote gun in 6mm ARC myself. I was leaving and worked up a hand load that shoots decent with the Sierra 70gr BK. Next spring I will work a better load, but this one cuts well under an inch, so it'll do for the season.

Fun little cartridge - although the 22 ARC looks fun too.

That's really pristine for a carry gun. Had to google the reference, haha.

What length barrel & brand? Thinking about 18" Ballistic Advantage with the Aero 6.5G/6ARC BCG which I have in my grendel. Very slight chance I will splurge on a Proof Research CF, as a car guy kinda amazing I havent used one yet, eventually.

I have the Wilson Tactical Hunter 18" stainless flutes. 1-7.5 twist. I used this exact bbl on my 300 HAM'R build and it is a freaking tack driver right from the moment I installed it. Ragged holes all day long. Only tried 3-4 loads in my 6 ARC load dev since I was on a tight schedule, but only loaded 50 rounds so I'll have to come back to it in the spring and work on a better one. Shoots well - I'm just obsessive. LOL

Dang, I was hoping you would not glowingly suggest that, because it was my first choice, but stainless on this build won't look good and they don't have black. Geez now I need to evaluate swapping something existing in this receiver set.

That is why you have them Armor-Tuff coat it!

I got mine done in OD Green to match my upper and lower.

My buddy laughs at me - he wants everything to be different and "new" on his builds. I like mine to have what is perfect to me - on every gun. ALL my AR's have a phase 5 bolt release, the same safety switch same grip, etc. When I pick them up I don't wanna have to remember "oh this one runs like this....." I want them all to be the same! LOL

We are NOT cut from the same cloth.

Smart. I consolidated calibers years ago. Then I finally scratched the PS90 itch & had to stock a new caliber. That did not last long lol

One of the inexpensive home defense shotguns is often a good choice. Several manufacturers sell them, and they have shorter barrels and usually carry more rounds than shotguns used for hunting. Some now even have a clip.

Shotguns make a lot of noise ( really gets the intruders attention), are an area defense weapon (aim is not as critical), and they look really scary. They also don’t have high penetration, so you don’t need to worry about shooting through a wall and hitting a family member in the next room. You can also consider using slugs instead of buckshot, if you want to punch a big hole. In most states there is no permit required and the purchase is uncomplicated.
