Pump fuel (Shell V-Power 99+) and BQTune.
Mods included among others:
Hybrid Turbo S2 from PerunTurbo, 4BAR TMap, Chargepipe, HKS BOV, Forge 7'' FMIC, Sport Alu Radiator, Ebay oil rad 3x bigger than stock, 3'' catless exhaust with MG Motorsport muffler, RM Motors downpipes, DCI from BMS, Air scoops, MMP in and out 2'' pipes, 550i Clutch, NGK gapped, many more little things I forgot about. Bottom line is, this was stock fuel system and now I know that car had misaligned camshaft as one cam skipped one chain giving non-ideal ignition at high RPM.

So this is on 93oct, pure stage 2? DD or high flow? and LPFP upgrade? I'm asking because I need to get my car tuned and it has pure stage 2 hiflows and i want it on 93 oct

I'm on Perun Turbo Stage 2 (hot and cold modified with 2'' flange to outlet).
LPFP was stock but now is upgraded.
Yes, pure 93 oct. I drive either on V-Power 99+ or Tesco Momentum 99.

Hey guys,

I have an 09 335xi with DCI, Catless DP, CP with Tial BOV, ETS 7" IC , stock exhaust with PE mod, Stage 2 LPFP.

I logged a 3rd gear pull JB4 map 5 with e30 and made 417whp 421tq on VD
then I did an MHD BEF for e85 and jb4 map 7 on e60. made 412whp 420tq. it was in def hot out on this log rather than the morning on e30 log. Car idles and runs way smoother. smooth power curve and targeting safer afr at 12.7 with BEF. I was hitting about 15psi on the e30 and 17 on the e60. Is it safe to say without inlets and a customer tune these stock turbos are maxing out? thanks for the opinions

i have been running a custom E40 tune at 21.5 psi for almost a year with no issues with stock downpipes and stock fuel pump... there are people who push them to 24-25 psi with inlets/outlets so 17 is definitely not maxing them out...

Went to get a horsepower check today and I am slightly disappointed in the numbers but I am also slightly suspect of the actual testing. The operator was unfamiliar with the car and how to dyno it.

Mods
CPE catless DPs
COBB exhaust
VRSF FMIC
VRSF Cold pipe
Active BOV

Unknown boost
Unknown tune

Thoughts?

DCT? What gear did they dyno it in? Unknown tune and boost? HP may be close but with stock turbos TQ is always at least as much as HP and usually higher.

Yeah DCT, and he did a 4th pull but kept going into kick down. The car came with a tune from the previous owner and I am trying to decide on a boost gauge so I can see the boost levels.

Yeah the TQ being so low was really weird to me, it should be considerably higher especially with the 335is overboost function.

Possible the operator wasn't going full pedal right away. The guy that did mine hit kick down when he tried the first pull and was obviously afraid of it after that. Every pull didn't get to near full request/boost until almost redline. I knew the output was low, but didn't see the problem was how he was working the pedal until I looked more closely at the logs later. Only 11-14psi through the mid-rpm/peak tq range (on a 23psi tune).

Never went back, but would've turned off kick down in the flash if I did. If you don't have that ability, physical kick down blocker will work. Would just be easier if they let you drive your own car on the dyno like they used to.

Yeah that makes sense, the guy said he could feel the wheels slipping and went and put 2 additional straps on the car.

I think there is probably something to be said for taking one of these to a shop that specializes in BMW vs a place that does mostly pony cars.

Stock 335i DCT v mhd stage 1

How good is virtual dyno, The chart is RED is stock & BLUE is MHD ver8 stage 1
Both runs are 95 Ron fuel.

I can understand mhd map saying 337 WHP but I can't understand 320 WHP stock, Stock is just over 300 bhp at the crank, Not at the wheels, or so I thought.

anyway, car is booked in on a dyno on Monday, So I will see how close the virtual dyno is.

It's only as good as the data you put in and the street you log on. If the street is actually flat and environment, weight, tire diameter are accurate, it can be pretty close. The stock log pull is definitely way too high on power and too low for torque. Boost is also a little low for stock. Either the road was slightly sloped down, it was significantly cooler out than 77F, weight too high, correction factor too much, etc.

FBO on stock tune generally don't or just barely break 300whp corrected if they're lucky. Get the environment factors in VD and see what corrected looks like. Log both directions on that same section of road and if the results are significantly different in VD, there's a slope and you need to find some place else to log for VD.

Do 1 pull on the dyno with the stock map for a baseline and then flash your tune(s) for the rest of the runs.
